Professionals e.g accountants, lawyers etc. If you want to buy a property, pay a lawyer. Pay an accountant to do tax evasion etc.
Oh, and diff type of businesses/open contracts to widen the job market. A player can give another player a contract.
Being unmarried doesn’t scare me. Losing my peace just to say I have a husband does.
Marriage is only a flex when the partnership is actually better than the freedom you gave up.
"NO INHERITANCE, NO CONTRIBUTION"
Nigerian women, if their tradition says you do not have the right to inherit anything from your father, then you shouldn't contribute anything.
Let their lovely sons do all the contribution including care giving.
Stay out of it!!!
They would have regretted staying too. Regret is mostly just nostalgia. Stay, go: you will regret something. My advice, go and regret where you can actually improve your life if you put in the work. They will be alright.
I have NEVER doubted that I will be successful. It was just a matter of timing. I have the work ethic, my portfolio of failures grows year on year, and I have a ridiculous bounce-back strength. Most importantly, I believe in my abilities to create the life I want. So, it’s gonna happen.
unlearn shame. all forms of shame: unemployment, illness, vulnerability, longing, desire, errors, failures. you do not need to feel ashamed of what you are experiencing or living. freedom and shame cannot coexist.
What we often fail to realise is that we are humans first. Naturally, I would do to others what I would want done to me. We focus so much on what is being done to us that we forget the standard of what we do to others.
There’s a hot desk policy in my office. Plus parking is first come first serve. If my oga’s oga’s oga’s oga comes to work, if e no see parking he go find another place go park and trek to the office. And nobody get permanent desk, let alone office.
Nigerians go sey how can you people not have discretion and avoid the desk that your oga likes to use? or leave one parking space for him.
“Nigeria is different from the abroad.” Perfect. Don’t adopt oyinbo policies and now not follow it. Just say this one won’t work for us and free it.
Someone said women did not start decentering their husbands today. It started long before. That is why when women cry to their mothers that, “oh, my husband is maltreating me, my husband does not give me attention”, the mothers always tell them, “focus on your children”.
That's because their mothers have learned to decenter their husbands. They don't make their husbands center of their world. They focus on their children. Their husbands were just meant to give them children and then they find comfort in their women groups. Their husbands were never a part of that.
The difference is those women decentered their husbands under the patriarchy, while women of now are decentering their husbands under feminism.
At the end of the day, Women have always learned to survive disappointing husbands.
The women of the past were told, "Focus on your children." Today's women are told, "Decenter your husband."
The language changed, but perhaps the underlying problem didn't. women have repeatedly been taught how to build a fulfilling life around a marriage that isn't fulfilling them.
If a woman has to emotionally remove her husband from the center of her life just to survive being married to him, what exactly is the marriage providing that a partnership wouldn't?
