I wanted to understand what Alden Global Capital’s purchase of @sdut meant for San Diegans.
My conclusion: This is the beginning of the end for the 155-year-old paper.

BREAKING: Top Border Patrol official Gregory Bovino and some of his agents are expected to leave Minneapolis and return to their respective sectors, sources tell me, @KristenhCNN + @kaitlancollins.
Bellingcat is gold standard
"Video of the shooting appears to show that a gun was taken from the man BEFORE THE FIRST shot was fired."
"At least 10 shots being heard in total. Most of them are fired after a brief delay, when the man is already lying motionless on the ground."
Bovino hasn’t been telling the truth since his very first operation in Kern County a year ago.
The Border Patrol’s own documents proved it.

A federal judge has barred the Border Patrol from conducting warrantless sweeps in the Eastern District of California after they went to places like Home Depot.
Sacramento is in the Eastern District.

BREAKING: We just rode along w/ Border Patrol as they conducted immigration enforcement in Sacramento, the capitol of the sanctuary state of California. Upon arrival at a Home Depot, suspected illegal aliens took off running in all directions. 10+ arrested. BP tells us records checks on one already came back showing he’s an aggravated felon with a prior conviction for fentanyl trafficking. One man, who claimed to be a U.S. citizen, was arrested and maced by federal agents after he allegedly slashed the tire of a federal vehicle and appeared to assault an agent was he was taken to the ground. We were with one team of federal agents, as there are others conducting enforcement in other areas of the city.
@USBPChiefELC tells me this is the farthest north his BP agents have gone in California for immigration enforcement during the Trump administration, and it’s meant to send the message that the federal government can and will go wherever they want in the sanctuary state.
“There is no sanctuary from our enforcement efforts,” Chief Bovino told me.
CalMatters spoke with a number of migrants about their arrests and detentions after the first weekend of LA raids. Their accounts raise potential legal questions about the government’s operation. https://t.co/DwTxT7W2pH
Taken: What happens after an LA immigration raid
Masked men pull up quickly and approach Latino men.
When someone runs, they’re taken. When they don’t answer a question, they’re taken. When they can’t produce papers, they’re taken.

Immigration agents raided the Home Depot on sunset in Los Angeles.
Francisco says dozens of agents surrounded the parking lot and took people early this morning around 7am.
Father Peter O’Riley says is standing calm as LAPD fire less lethal rounds all around him.
O’Riley says he’s here because he’s an immigrant and he supports free speech and the right to peacefully protest.
