@DanielRested@MentaljimU@Whatthelurker @uncle_cee1 @ZAYYYTHEGOAT That literally says nothing about cameras, yeah of course a couple guards will not be enough because schools are big. That’s why if we were serious about stopping school shootings, camera guards would be common practice.
@DanielRested@MentaljimU@Whatthelurker @uncle_cee1 @ZAYYYTHEGOAT We can choose to fund their Ethernet capabilities and turn schools into places that can provide connection in times of crisis.
We could provide better security measures, with active guards as well as ones watching cameras.
@DanielRested@MentaljimU@Whatthelurker @uncle_cee1 @ZAYYYTHEGOAT Furthermore the US Educational System has been outdated and underfunded since the 2000s. In this time mass shootings, wealth disparity, and technology usage grew exponentially.
To combat mass shootings we can choose to fund a few areas so that schools can defend themselves.
@DanielRested@MentaljimU@Whatthelurker @uncle_cee1 @ZAYYYTHEGOAT And if you think it’s the phones fault kids are distracted then you’re an idiot just the same. The US Education System was built to bore and numb the minds of students so we can create workers. Kids aren’t going to slow down, schools need to catch up, times gonna keep marching.
@DanielRested@MentaljimU@Whatthelurker @uncle_cee1 @ZAYYYTHEGOAT Yeah phones make it easier for families communicate pickups and dropoffs as well as help low income families function in situations where parents don’t have time to be there for their kids 24/7.
@DanielRested@MentaljimU@Whatthelurker @uncle_cee1 @ZAYYYTHEGOAT False equivalence, a phone can mean safety for one person while putting others at risk, just like guns. I’ve never said people should be scrolling through twitter in clas, talk about putting words in mouths. Your horse gets let’s high by the moment
@DanielRested@MentaljimU@Whatthelurker @uncle_cee1 @ZAYYYTHEGOAT You think to seem you’re some actuator of common sense and reasoning yet you’re not smart enough to reason that students will be trying to find any way to bring their phone into the building. I’d rather have my students trained on what to do if it’s on them.
@DanielRested@MentaljimU@Whatthelurker @uncle_cee1 @ZAYYYTHEGOAT Yeah I’m saying push your thinking deeper, if you account for phones being in schools you can better prepare. It’s the same argument as getting rid of guns.
@DanielRested@MentaljimU@Whatthelurker @uncle_cee1 @ZAYYYTHEGOAT My entire point is that nobody above is doing anything to make things different, until they do that it’s stupid to put the burden on families. Additionally we can make phones apart of learning, seeing how much society depends on them. If that’s nonsensical then that’s that.
@DanielRested@MentaljimU@Whatthelurker @uncle_cee1 @ZAYYYTHEGOAT Your only argument that held up is the evidence but my logic is way more dynamic, productive, and flexible than keeping phones out of schools because they jam lines.
@DanielRested@MentaljimU@Whatthelurker @uncle_cee1 @ZAYYYTHEGOAT You can have it dude you win, we should hide from adaptation, keep the phones at home, they don’t help anyone out and they’re not useful to learning. Additionally that means this whole conversation was a waste of time and nothing but a flexing of egos and destruction of our minds
