And Ratan’s life and work have had much to do with our being in this position.

Hence, his mentorship and guidance at this point in time would have been invaluable.

With him gone, all we can do is to commit to emulating his example. Because he was a businessman for whom financial wealth and success was most useful when it was put to the service of the global community.

It’s quite disturbing to know how 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗱𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀. When I get to hear about these incidents, I’m appalled with the behaviour of youngsters.

𝗗𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝘅𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹? What impact will it have on their thought process and life as adults? They just act in the moment, caught up in their arrogance and ignorance.

I believe that both parents and school authorities need to address this issue proactively. 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝘀𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱. It’s important that the bullies are called out. Open discussions on these topics should be encouraged, with parents being a part of them.𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶-𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗱 so students know that such behaviour isn’t going to be tolerated and there would be consequences. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁, 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻, so they never feel lesser than the others or that it is somehow their fault that they are being bullied. On the other hand,𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘄 ���𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘀, which would eventually lead to a change in their thinking and behaviour.

Schools should also try something hatke. Like, 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 to help create positive connections. 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 to cultivate a sense of belonging and unity. 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹����𝘁𝘆 to lay a strong foundation for students to become thriving global citizens.
