[THEY CAN LOCK UP MY BODY, BUT THEY CAN'T LOCK UP MY MIND!]
In today's (16 May) last year, I was jailed because of the Umbrella Movement. I could not imagine more than 2 million HKers could take to the street during my jail terms to against the controversial extradition bill.
#SimonCheng described how Chinese secret police tortured him during detention. Other #HongKongProtesters were also arrested by #CCP. Such atrocity must be sanctioned, instead of merely paying lip service. How can #OneCountryTwoSystems be preserved if the world just keeps silent?
“(...) future British governments could consider adopting a similar approach to the bipartisan Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act.”
I wrote this in July. Now the law has passed the US Senate. High time for UK politicians to exercise leadership.

On Senate floor supporting the people of Hong Kong and passage of the PROTECT Hong Kong Act with @SenJeffMerkley prohibiting commercial export of AMERICAN riot control gear being used against protestors.
Right now, the people of #HongKong are standing up for their democratic aspirations. I'm proud to #StandWithHongKong by joining the entire Senate in passing the Hong Kong Human Rights & Democracy Act so all in Hong Kong know America supports their human rights & autonomy
The U.S. Senate has unanimously passed a bill aimed at supporting Hong Kong's protesters and warning China against a violent suppression of the demonstrations https://t.co/02M86ZkGVB via @bpolitics

I guess no one want to walk out of their own campus in such a manner.
What awaits them ahead were possibly death, prosecution and deprivation of justice...
