It is with great sadness that I have to announce that El Gato died on Sunday.
He gave joy to many throughout his life. He was happy, gentle and full of personality.
Life will not be the same without El Gato’s company and friendship. We will miss him dearly.
Our leaders must demand the immediate and safe release of Dr Hussam Abu Safiya and all detained Gaza health workers @Keir_Starmer@DavidLammy@HFalconerMP
Health workers are not a target, and impunity for Israel's destruction of Palestinian healthcare must end.
Please share.
Situation in the State of Palestine:
#ICC Pre-Trial Chamber I rejects the State of Israel’s challenges to jurisdiction and issues warrants of arrest for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant. Learn more ⤵️ https://t.co/opHUjZG8BL
🚨 BREAKING: The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and former defence minister Yoav Gallant for crimes against humanity in Gaza.
The US and UK governments must immediately suspend all arms sales to Israel.
The Prime Minister should make a statement to Parliament, immediately, to confirm whether UK missiles have been fired into Russia.
He must tell the British public if this means we are now at war with a nuclear power, what risk this poses to people in Britain, and why this action was taken without any approval from Parliament.
I have consistently condemned Russia for its invasion of Ukraine and called for a diplomatic solution to stop the endless bloodshed.
As we edge closer and closer to catastrophe, we should be doing everything in our power to bring about de-escalation and peace. Instead, our political leaders have added fuel to the fire and gambled with people’s lives for political gain.
Presidents and Prime Ministers must know that in the event of nuclear war, nobody wins.
I’m not interested in bombs. I’m interested in peace – and I will continue to campaign for peace in Ukraine, Gaza, Yemen, Sudan, the DRC and beyond.
‘Drones would pick off civilians and children’
Renowned British surgeon Nizam Mamode described the “disturbing” situation in Gaza in a testimony before the UK Parliament.
Last October, the Prime Minister told LBC that "Israel does have that right [to cut food, water & power from Gaza]."
Today, in the Chamber, he claimed he’s "well aware of the definition of genocide" & that's why he’s "never referred to [Gaza] as a genocide."
We won’t forget.
Deeply disturbing to learn that F-35 components have been covertly sent to Israel via British airbases & Heathrow, enabling 2000lb bombs to be dropped on Gaza.
Shipments have continued under Labour, therefore actively facilitating genocide & war crimes.
End ALL arms sales NOW.
In Gaza, the collective shame of the century continues unabated and unstopped, in defiance of every norm of international law and morale. The Palestinians, exhausted by relentless attacks on their bodies and souls are abandoned to their tormentors. Shocking images of summary executions, mass forced displacements, and other egregious abuses strike us, leaving us stunned and bewildered, unable to comprehend that what is happening in Gaza is truly real. What a disgraceful testament to our global failure to protect basic human rights . The United Nations, once a believed beacon of hope and a force for peace, are crumbling under the weight of this shame - and the pressure of the inaction or complicity of its most powerful member states.
Israel is literally wiping out apartment buildings in Beirut tonight.
Let that sink in—residential buildings full of Lebanese families.
In what universe is this considered “self-defense”?
⚡️BREAKING: The artist Mahasen Al-Khatib was just murdered in Jabalia, North Gaza by Israel.
She posted her picture before on Facebook and said: “Just so that when I die, you’ll find a picture of me.”
The martyr’s last post of artwork on Instagram was captioned: “Tell me what you’re feeling when you see anybody burning ....”
@abierkhatib@mrjamesob was this is the first innocent person to burn to death in gaza, or the first one he saw therefore was upset by? By the same token, I hope we live long enough to see him apologise for going all in smearing good people who knew the situation when he didn't, as antisemites
