In March 2022, Gabriel chose to stay with his partner for the birth of their first child rather than play for Brazil during the international break.
Coach Tite and national team coordinator Juninho decided to leave him out of the team going forward, and it ultimately cost him his place in the 2022 World Cup squad.
He missed the World Cup, but he was there for his wife and daughter, and I’m sure he has no regrets. Both Tite and Juninho eventually left their roles, and Gabriel earned his place back in the national team, becoming a starter and one of its most important players.
He is now playing at another World Cup four years later, but he wouldn’t have the opportunity to witness another birth of Maya.
6am in London, less than 8 hours after winning the league… and the Arsenal boys are just casually walking around the streets like regular lads.
No entourage, no superstar behaviour — just vibes, laughter and football.
Bukayo Saka especially looking like the most normal guy you’d ever meet despite earning thousands every week.
That’s what people forget sometimes: beneath the fame and money, most of these boys are just humble kids who genuinely love playing football.
Congrats to all Arsenal fans around the globe.

We bet you didn't expect Kelechi Iheanacho to be the ONLY player in Premier League history to have scored on all seven days of the week in the same season 😮🇳🇬📅
Tank becomes our first Super Eagle. 🦅
Frank Onyeka has been called up for the @NGSuperEagles and will represent his nation in their upcoming friendlies. 🇳🇬
Arsène handed Arsenal debuts to 200 players during his time as manager. The final debutant was Konstantinos Mavropanos, against Manchester United in April 2018.

Two goals for Paul Onuachu in the first 45 minute against Kayserispor. He has now scored in nine consecutive games.
He becomes the first African player to score 20 league goals across Europe's top leagues this season 👏
One African football story that sounds completely made up but is 100% true involves the legendary goalkeeper Thomas N'Kono and a young fan who later became one of the greatest goalkeepers in history.
During the 1990 FIFA World Cup, Cameroon shocked the world. Led by stars like Roger Milla and goalkeeper N'Kono, the team defeated the defending champions Argentina in the opening match and eventually reached the quarter-finals.
After one of the Indomitable Lions’ matches, N'Kono gave his goalkeeper jersey to a young ball boy who had been helping on the sidelines. That boy idolised him and decided he wanted to become a goalkeeper too.
The ball boy grew up to become Gianluigi Buffon. Buffon later said that watching N'Kono during the 1990 World Cup inspired him to change position and pursue goalkeeping. He eventually became one of the most famous goalkeepers ever, winning the 2006 FIFA World Cup with Italy.
So a Cameroonian goalkeeper inspiring a random kid at a World Cup, and that kid becoming one of football’s greatest goalkeepers, sounds like a scripted movie moment. Yet it is a real piece of football history.
Let me tell you other facts about Union Berlin fans. I watched a documentary on them a while back.
Union Berlin fans have a culture, you cannot boo the players, coaches, or members of staff irrespective of the result. You just cannot.
Aside the blood donation that raised money for them to stay afloat, the fans also renovated the stadium themselves. 2,000 fans volunteered to rebuild parts of the stadium and reports says they averaged 140,000 hours of work combined.
Every December, the fans meet for Christmas at the stadium, its called "Weihnachtssingen". They bring christmas candles, sing christmas songs, celebrate the club, etc.
Union Berlin fans reject over-commercialisation of their club, they believe they own the club and should not be referred to as mere fans or customers.
They also have some crazy history down to the days of East Germany where the government wanted to take over their club. The fans started sleeping in the stadium overnight in turns to prevent this, the government eventually backed off.
One of the most traditional clubs across Europe. UNION BERLIN.
