Israel is carpet bombing Tyre. I don’t think people unfamiliar with this city understand what does this mean. Tyre is over 4,700 year-old & one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. It is included as a whole in the UNESCO World Heritage. My heart is aching😭
In this life we have a choice of bringing positivity into the world, or negativity. It’s important to remember that your actions have real-world consequences. Bullying and harassment can ruin or even end lives. Choose to make someone’s day, not ruin it 🖤
Being an outspoken woman, especially from a minority ethnic background, can often bring out the worst in people. Add in jealousy and internalised misogyny and it’s a toxic mix. We always need to be vigilant of this and call it out when we see it.
Explored the website more. Seems there may be Palestine-related content in their conferences/workshops/talks, just not explicitly mentioning the country name. Interesting.
The fact that so many decades-old interviews and articles about "Israel" and their occupation of Palestine + dehumanization of Palestinians still being relevant today should tell you something about the violence and willfull ignorance of Western governments.
So yes at the time that ppl were being abandoned in NOLA to die, or were being rounded up into athletic stadiums, the US was paying a million dollars to each settler family for leaving their illegal homes in Gaza & going to new homes already
They were like “but my cousin/whatever who lives in Michigan is married to a Black person” & I had to tell them that this only became legal in the previous 40 years or so in much of the U.S., they were stunned.
& I actually had to explain the plot because it went right over their heads, they didn’t get what the big deal was if the maid & her employer fell in love & I had to tell them that in most of the US at that time it would have been illegal for them to get married or even date. >
The U.S. does a decent job of hiding how truly racist they are in what they export overseas. I remember once I was watching a movie with the family I lived with for a while in Palestine, it was a movie with Whoopi Goldberg playing a maid in like the 50s for a white widower >
