More breaking news here from Lib Twitter: Science Lover doubles down on support for A-Bomb, calls it a ‘moral judgment’
Tech Enthusiast wonders why we can’t just reform the surveillance state.
@ScienceLoverDan We were talking about judging one, specific action from the past. Ya fuck it I’ll read Huck Finn and understand Mark Twain was living in a diff cultural context, that makes perfect sense. But Mark Twain didn’t nuke anybody
@ScienceLoverDan I also hope to god that you aren’t using ‘moral judgment’ to mean the ‘they won’t have enough bullets’ argument — that’s the most deranged excuse for killing over 200,000 innocents. ‘Ya but we could’ve killed way more if we wanted to’
@afurgs @gabefuente @drew_delacruz21 @jennifer_e_lee Who’s going to proactively enforce change? Has this country ever done that with anything ever in regards to privacy and tech?
Today on Lib Twitter: Self proclaimed ‘science lover’ defends US usage of nuclear on Japanese civilians, calls critique of such practice ‘problematic’
Another user claims facial recognition tech monitored by police should be used in schools! bc ‘it could prevent some things’
@afurgs @gabefuente @drew_delacruz21 @jennifer_e_lee The entirely of the surveillance state has the ‘potential to stop something from happening’ — a kid being accosted by cops for stepping on public property because of a ‘tip’ sounds like a very very bad idea
@ScienceLoverDan Wow your right. We shouldn’t judge Bush for the Iraq war either, it was right after 9/11 and things were ‘heated’ — also can’t fault us for Vietnam, the war against communism was heated. Korea too, sure we killed 1/3 of the population but it’s problematic to judge.
@afurgs @gabefuente @drew_delacruz21 @jennifer_e_lee There’s a lot of reasons to get police out of schools — let’s remember what type of kids the law is usually leveraged against in schools. School administrators aren’t exactly known for their equitable and companionate treatment of students
LA came out in force today in a show of solidarity. Today is the first time in recent months I have seen protestors outnumbering police — not for lack of trying though #FreePalistine#LosAngeles
