I just found this video of an early idea for the score for @BalladofWallis island. Didn’t use my toe/knee tremolo technique in the end! Not the first time I’ve hit strings with things: first was probably pencil on autoharp for my Adem song ‘Statued’ (used in Dead Man’s Shoes)
@DANIELPEMBERTON Very proud to be counted among the many artists raising awareness and fighting for artists and music makers against profiteering companies and short-sighted copyright policy.
Probably the first album to have as its bonus merch a letter you can send to your MP inside it..
I have already written to mine a bunch of times - feel that kind of prodding is way more effective than moaning on social media.
An important fight for all artists..👇
As a matter of fact, I’m doing 2(two) TWO rare live shows:
13th December LONDON for the 400th Daylight Music https://t.co/jkLIrziWjp
17th Jan GLASGOW @thehugandpint
Come along and say hello!
A huge congratulations to @ademadem who has received a @BIFA_film nomination with Tom Basden for Best Original Music for their work on ‘The Ballad of Wallis Island’!
Great to be back in the UK and seeing my great friend and sometime collaborator @ademadem doing a rare live performance in the bottom of Sir Francis Drakes ship The Golden Hinde..
That accordion was so busted and beautifully wonky. It took a lot of effort to push/pull and the reeds fuzzed and creaked unreliably, creating wonderful random textures when slowed down and drawn out. Got a lot of atmosphere from the ‘silent’ bits too.
For THE MORTICIAN soundtrack I made with @ademadem one thing we played with was the idea of bellows.. took a knackered old accordion and slowed it down 200% to get a lot of the strange textures you hear on the score..
Listen below or watch now on @HBO..

@moog77@BBC6Music@laurenlaverne -Paul Savage is engineering!
-Maybe? I’m planning a special micro show at the golden hinde in London in September… I’d hesitate to call it an anniversary show…
-Yes! I still have those toy things - recently used a lot of them on the score for @BalladofWallis that’s just out!
All hands on deck for a mad day of sessions last year creating the score for #TheMortician on @HBO with @ademadem.. signature “loose” feel from the drummer…
Really enjoyed scoring THE MORTICIAN with my good pal and awesome composer @DANIELPEMBERTON . It’s three parts and starts tonight on @HBO. We holed up in a studio and came up with a score befitting this disturbing, noirish story featuring wild sounds and dark themes
