President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu took over at a time when Nigeria was sitting on borrowed time a broken subsidy regime, a distorted forex market, collapsing public finances, endless ASUU strikes, worsening insecurity and a power sector trapped in old failures.

Instead of kicking the can down the road like many before him, Tinubu chose to confront the problems previous presidents were too afraid to touch.
He removed the fuel subsidy racket that was bleeding Nigeria dry.
He pushed bold reforms in the foreign exchange system to restore order and confidence.

He moved on electricity reform and decentralization to give states and investors more room to fix power.
He has now fast-tracked the state police conversation, a reform many only talked about but never had the courage to push.

For the first time in a long while, ASUU has not held the country hostage with prolonged strikes.

These are not cosmetic decisions. These are structural reforms, painful, YES, but necessary if Nigeria must stop recycling the same crisis every four years.

That is why the 2027 election is not just about popularity; it is about who has the courage, political will and capacity to continue difficult reforms until the results fully mature. Tinubu has shown that he is willing to make hard decisions not for applause, but for the long-term survival of Nigeria.
No serious nation develops by avoiding hard choices.
No serious leader fixes a broken country by chasing cheap popularity.

Tinubu has taken the bullets for reforms others avoided for over two decades. He has laid the foundation. The sensible thing for Nigeria is not to abandon the reforms halfway, but to allow the man who started the reset to finish the job.

Asiwaju must return in 2027, not because the journey has been easy, but because he has shown the courage to do what was necessary when it mattered most.
