@vangeorgh @OyinAjibade But 10,000 architects are not sufficient to service over 200 million people even though you can argue that the general population cannot even afford proper architectural fees. But we still need more architects.

@vangeorgh @OyinAjibade Yeah, I agree with your summation, we have many architectural designers, held back by structural issues. My point is we don't have enough architects in Nigeria. I plan to take the exams in a year or so, I'm very familiar with the issues it has had in the past.

@OyinAjibade At the risk of sounding pedantic, it's very related. There's nothing like an unregistered architect, you are either an architect or not. It is illegal and unethical to call yourself an architect when you aren't licensed to practice. And the architects we have are not enough as-is

The thing with quacks is they don't know what they don't know, and the Dunning-Kruger effect makes them not recognise their limits. People with decades of experience always defer to superior knowledge and get advice and direction but quacks? They move with mad audacity.

Ghana is not experimenting with rammed earth. Ghana is demonstrating mastery of it.

The Shippon Offices. Cantonments, Accra, Ghana. Adjaye Associates’ own global headquarters. Designed by David Adjaye. Completed 2026.

The entire facade is rammed earth fins; deep, rhythmically spaced, locally sourced. They shade the interior from
Accra’s tropical sun while framing precise views of the city. A 26-metre cantilever lifts the primary office floors off the ground entirely, preserving the ground plane as a shaded social pergola for the neighbourhood.

1,300 m² of column-free workspace. A creche for staff families. A rooftop kitchen. Rammed earth walls that regulate humidity and temperature without mechanical systems.

David Adjaye chose rammed earth for his own firm’s home. Not for optics. Because it performs.

This is what it looks like when an African architect builds African soil into a Grade-A global workplace and dares the world to call it primitive

Everytime free consultation is bad practice

I went to this hospital at Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja Lagos

I wanted to see the gynecologist.
I paid for registration, 23,766
Paid for consultation, 119,000
Paid for tests close to 350k (it was about three hundred and forty something)

Minus my T.fare o

Now after close to a month, my results are ready. Oya o, tell me what the tests says. NO, I HAVE TO PAY 64,000 FIRST before the gynecologist can interpret what my tests says.

I almost lost it with them! They said it's the policy.
And frankly i don't have 64k to pay for tests interpretation. I told them to send the results to my mail.

I'm so heartbroken and disappointed.

No one really tells you this but as an architect, you kinda have to be physically fit because you will walk. A lot. Days that I’m on site, I don’t worry about getting my steps.
