Real reason this line feels kinda weird is that rent as the main financial burden is a relatively recent phenomenon. For most of history, food was households' primary expense, so it would prob feel more "right" in a medieval setting to complain about starvation.

I.e., "These articles just show women fundamentally hate X because it has male protagonists, is problematic, etc."

@IronTire36543 Has more to do with how a lot of modern writing has conditioned people into expecting Chekhov's gun subversions rather than actually playing it out. Hence, people end up (mostly subconsciously) thinking: "This theory has the most sound evidence; there's no way it can be true!"

@rubynesoberi @Kong__47 This might be a generational thing, since I feel like people underestimate how popular SF2 was in its heyday. It's the 3rd highest-grossing arcade game. There are a lot of people who don't even know SF6 is a thing/don't play games anymore, but can still recognize flash kick.
