(Chapter One: Book Of Purity)🧵
Abu Hurayrah رضي الله عنه reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“If a dog drinks from the vessel of any one of you, let him wash it seven times.”
According to the words of Muslim:
“The first of them should be with dust.”
Explanation;
The Prophet ﷺ is teaching us how to deal with a vessel that a dog has drunk or eaten from.
If a dog drinks or eats from your bowl, cup, plate, or other container, the container should be washed seven times, with one of those washings involving soil/dust, according to the narration of Muslim.
This is part of the Islamic rules concerning purification (ṭahārah). It also teaches Muslims to take matters of cleanliness and purification seriously.
