سيمور هيرش: ترامب يكر بالخيار النووي ضد إيران
Trump said to explore 'nuclear option' against Iran
United States President Donald Trump began "vaguely" inquiring about a "nuclear option" that would help end the conflict with Iran more quickly, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Seymour Hersh wrote on Substack on Wednesday.
On the other hand, Hersh cautioned that "it was just inside talk to senior staff by a frustrated president." Offering further details about a secret meeting in the White House where conflict with Iran was discussed, Hersh said that one of the participants was "shocked" that the US leader could raise the topic of nuclear war so "casually." Furthermore, Trump had been described as "desperate" not to suffer defeat against Iran.
Trump then allegedly proposed that Tehran should be warned that Washington was "extremely seriously" considering a nuclear escalation, only to be ultimately dissuaded by those present from pursuing such a strategy.

New footage obtained by B’Tselem uncovers the moments when the Abu Haikal family was shot. Seven-month-old Sam Abu Haikal was killed in the shooting, and both his parents were injured. The footage clearly shows that the Israeli soldier fired at the car as it was slowing to a stop. The car was far from the soldiers and posed no danger to them whatsoever.
Moments later, in another video obtained by B’Tselem, seven-month-old Sam’s father, Fahed, is seen just after his son was shot. Fahed is holding baby Sam in his arms, trying to stop the bleeding from his head with his hands, while Sam’s mother, Daniyah, who was also injured by the gunfire while holding her son, is seen sitting on the ground, next to the car.
Last Friday, 5 June, an Israeli soldier fired at a Palestinian family driving home from a family visit, as they sat in their car in the Tel Rumeidah neighborhood in Hebron. The family was shot as the car was slowing to a stop at the soldier’s command. Sam, a seven‑month‑old baby who was in his mother’s arms in the back seat, was struck in the head and pronounced dead shortly afterward. Sam’s parents were also injured by the gunfire; his mother is still in the hospital. After the shooting, the soldier who fired and another soldier who was with him left the scene without checking the car or offering any assistance to the critically wounded baby or to his mother.
In the past two and a half years, Israel has killed tens of thousands of children in Gaza and the West Bank. The immunity it gets from the international community has led to a reality where, under Israeli rule, Palestinian lives are entirely disposable – even a seven‑month‑old baby.
This is one of the most heart-wrenching videos I have ever seen. It shows the immediate aftermath of an Israeli soldier shooting a 7-month old Palesinian baby in the head, stealing his life.
It shows that the car with the Palestinian family had stopped. Yet the Israelis shot.
The father is holding his infant son in his arms as he bleeds to death from the shot to his head. It tears you apart.
This is the daily life of Palestinians under Israel's US-supported occupation.
You never know when you will be shot in the head. It can happen any time, for any reason.
And the world approves.
Israeli Jews are doing their damndest to pretend Gaza and the genocide don't exist. The trend now is to talk about "messianic madness" in the West Bank, trying to detach "good Israelis" from mad ones. The cost? Forget the genocide in Gaza, perpetrated and supported by a majority of Israeli Jews in one capacity or another. The IDF wants to reignite ground-based genocide as it feels its Lebanese escapades are about to end. Most Israelis, however, offer no opinions (but will report for duty). Gaza was never there. I mean, there's a lot of rubble from demolished "terrorist infrastructure". The people dragging their broken bodies and souls through the rubble? Potential terrorists. Why should we care?

@S_Mahendrarajah@les_politiques colonizers and invaders monopolize politics and promote local managers to keep the lights on, speaking of which, Aoun and Salam cannot even keep the lights on.
The Nawaf Salam gov in Lebanon was supposed to be a technocratic gov to do things for the people in a country broken by politics. It ended up being the most incompetent gov in Lebanese history. It is not doing anything for the country, it is doing politics, but only politics of surrender, and it expects everything else to magically follow from their surrender to Israel and the US.
Israel is trying to call Iran's bluff by attacking Beirut. If Iran honors its commitment to Hezbollah and retaliates against Israel, chances of a deal with the US will be significantly damaged. If Iran was indeed bluffing, it means that Iran understands that it cannot have a deal AND commit to Hezbollah. Iran might try to stall and play the Yemen card, but what applies to Hezbollah will apply to the Houthis. Iran is faced with a choice: either a deal and regime survival or no deal and another fight for the survival of the axis. I'm leaning the first option: Iran is bluffing.
It is well known that Aoun suffers from PTSD, his most consequential battle was the battle of Beirut Central District where he had to await a second round of elections before he was announced president.
After over four decades in the army, Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun tells me, “I’ve been in combat situations many times. I was wounded twice. I’ve seen the hardship of war. That’s why I hate wars. That’s why I prefer negotiation… I don’t want my children, I don’t want the people, to live the same hardship.”

I tell citizens and residents: go arm yourselves. It saves lives.
