@colmjoconnor@nealerichmond@lukeacorkery I’m a nationalist (with a small ‘n’ - ) - the trappings of Catholic Church influence in both hospitals and schools is a major impediment to a modern secular society. Big move on this would be a good step towards a New Ireland.
@tgeducation The ‘Catholic’ Grammar schools and CCMS often highlight their commitment to ‘inclusiveness’. Such hypocrisy, when the majority of grammar school children come from more advantaged backgrounds!!
@BBCNewsNI South Down Grammar schools made the correct decision to temporarily abandon academic selection during this pandemic. Will they now show real leadership and do the right thing for ALL children in South Down/ Armagh by permanently moving towards all ability schooling?
@micknugent A clear and logical case for a move towards a secular education system! If we were designing an education system from scratch this would be the model. Unfortunately, in (NI) we have inherited this multi sector system. Time to dismantle!
@BBCTalkback Faith schools are the predominant model in Ireland N & S. Time for secular schools in this era if multiculturalism. I thought Michael D should have gone further and lobbied for secular schools and remove all state funding of faith schools N & S.
