इस वीडियो में आप देखेंगे कि जब राहुल को पीटा जा रहा है, तो वहां पुलिस भी मौजूद है। इस दुनिया में शायद ही कोई ऐसा देश हो, जहां जानवर के नाम पर इंसान के साथ जानवरों से भी बदतर सलूक किया जाता हो। इंसानों को जानवरों की तरह पीटा जाता हो। उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार के मुखिया बार-बार दंभ भरते हैं कि उन्होंने प्रदेश को मुक्त बनाया है, वो यह नहीं कहते कि उन्होंने अघोषित तौर पर दक्षिणपंथी धार्मिक कट्टरपंथियों को अराजकता और हिंसा करने का लाइसेंस दे दिया है।

पुलिस की मौजूदगी में राहुल को पीटा जा रहा है। लेकिन मजाल भला कि पुलिस उसे बचाए। जबकि यही पुलिस अभियुक्तों के पैर में गोली मारकर उनका एनकाउंटर करने के लिए विख्यात हो चुकी है। लेकिन इस हिंसक झुंड के सामने पुलिस ऐसे बेबस हो, मानो वह अधिकार विहीन हो।

YOUR VOTE CAN DISAPPEAR IN A DAY — BUT GETTING IT BACK COULD TAKE 21 YEARS

India’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has raised a deeply disturbing democratic question: what happens when a citizen’s name disappears from the voter list, but the legal system cannot guarantee that the appeal will be decided before the election?

The video highlights the concern that millions of names have been removed during the SIR process and that deleted voters are being directed towards tribunals for relief.

But what happens when justice itself takes years?

If your vote is deleted today and your appeal is decided after the election, what exactly has been restored?

What does the right to vote actually mean if your name can disappear from the electoral roll today, while the machinery meant to restore that right cannot guarantee justice before tomorrow’s election?

What good is a tribunal if justice arrives after the election?

A vote is not an ordinary administrative entitlement.

It is the moment when the citizen becomes sovereign.

Take away that vote, and you do not merely remove a name from a database.

You silence a citizen.

And if millions are told, “You can challenge it later,” the obvious question is:

Later when?

After the election?

After the government is formed?

After five years?

A vote restored after the election cannot undo the democratic exclusion that occurred on polling day.

That is why electoral rolls are not merely paperwork.

They are the foundation of democratic legitimacy.

The real question is therefore much larger than SIR:

Can the world’s largest democracy guarantee that every eligible citizen can exercise their right to vote when it actually matters?

Because democracy is not simply about holding elections.

It is about ensuring that citizens are not prevented from participating in those elections and then asked to wait years for justice.

A democracy cannot tell a citizen: your vote can disappear today, but justice can wait.

The right to vote must be protected before the election, not repaired after it.

Because when the vote is lost, the citizen loses a voice.

And when millions of voices are silenced, democracy itself begins to lose its meaning.
