Dowry killings didn't disappear. They just got educated. Earlier it was kerosene and a matchstick 'gas leak ho gaya, cooker fat gaya' and the case would close before the body turned cold. I have seen this in my own circle in Bihar. MILs executing it with such cold precision, no trembling hands, no guilt, no tears that meant anything. It was a system. It ran smoothly. Now those same women are educated, English speaking, socially presentable and the weapon has upgraded too. Now it's 'she was schizophrenic.' Now it's 'she had a drug problem.'
Different era, same blueprint, cleaner paperwork. Patriarchy didn't lose its volunteers. It just sent them to school.
One #KeralaStory from the recent election results that communalists should note: a Muslim majority constituency, Thavanur, elected a Christian, VS Joy; a Hindu majority constituency, Kalamassery, elected a Muslim. VE Abdul Gafoor; and a Christian majority constituency, Kochi, elected a Muslim, Muhammed Shiyas. Despite some influence from the national trends in favour of identity politics, Kerala remains a model of communal harmony, a state where people see human beings first and caste or religion later

I am sure Trump won’t like this 😌
Had tea at a stall near Vaikkom town. It’s run by an enterprising young couple.
Simple, reasonably priced, no frills and well made Chai ☕️
#AirPollution Crisis mentioned before the CJI Bench
Counsel: the AQI is severe today, the crop burning in Punjab is happening, mylords may see the NASA image, let them (state) respond to this
CJI: tomorrow the matter is there, WE WILL PASS SOME ORDERS IN THE AIR POLLUTION MATTER
#WATCH | Gurugram, Haryana: On the rise in air pollution, Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta—The Medicity, Dr. Naresh Trehan, says, "It is a major hazard from a healthwise... Many people have to be hospitalized due to this... This is a disaster in a way for humanity... The public health is at a very high risk right now... There is an increase in lung problems, asthma, strokes... The blame game should be stopped, and serious measures need to be taken... Cloud seeding will only succeed when the humidity in the environment is 60 and above... But why can't we stop the burning of the stubble... You (government) are saying that we can go on a war... but can't control this. This is a very disturbing statement... It is affecting everyone, so why blame anybody?"
Stray dog problem is real. And it’s a problem created by humans who hate dogs not by those who love dogs.
Stray dog sterilisation efforts by individuals and NGOs have been constantly blocked by societies by calling them dog-feeders.
And now when their own blocking tactics made the problem huge, they are saying the only solution is to transport the dogs to ‘shelters’ that don’t exist in the first place.
We all know what that means.
Rabies cases are a huge failure of the system and the solution can’t be the forced starvation or trauma to the animals. Hope the animal activists and authorities sit together and find humane solutions.
Junglee Maharaj Road, Pune: This road is legendary for being pothole free.
Built by a contractor Recondo run by 2 Parsi brothers in the 1970’s.
It employed the best technique & materials
And gave a guarantee to repair it for free for 10 years.
They never got a road contract again
How easy is it today for individuals to rise from the grassroots and reach the zenith?
As we commemorate the legend, let's renew our commitment to building a society that is accommodating, tolerant & inclusive.

I enjoyed delivering a lecture at LSE’s School of Public Policy (SPP) about how elections are not merely about speeches and slogans but also about ensuring transparency in governance and delivery of promises. Political parties need to move beyond partisan politics and prioritize public interest. The focus should be on drafting policies that have real impact and transformation for future generations.
The talk was followed by a very engaging Q&A session.
Best wishes to all the students and faculty at the SPP!

Last evening, I spoke at the London School of Economics on the political discourse and resilience of the Indian Opposition.
Our LoP @RahulGandhi ji’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and the formation of the INDIA alliance have been significant forces in challenging the BJP’s political agenda and ensuring that people’s voices are heard.
The last Lok Sabha elections stand as a testament to the fact that a strong political opposition is essential for maintaining checks and balances on the ruling government and holding it accountable.
The Indian opposition plays a seminal role both within and outside of parliament; a democracy thrives with a robust and effective opposition.
📍LSE, London
one of the most fascinating things about living in the UK is to witness it's reading culture - in tubes, buses and even the streets.
Indian Gov must put in efforts to cultivate this reading culture especially in times dominated by reels & short videos, taking away best of us
I am looking forward to speaking at the London School of Economics.

If a Hindu can find in the vestiges of history a perceived hurt against an abstract ancestor, and weaponise it to seek revenge in the present, then millions of lower castes can rise against the upper castes for centuries of oppression and ostracism.
My piece in Times of India
This year billions of people around the world have been to the polls. Tonight, our panel of LSE experts will discuss key outcomes and implications for the world in 2025.
