Our inspiration for this report was the kuaka - the bar-tailed godwit - that makes an epic 11,000km non-stop journey between Alaska and Aotearoa, to secure the future of their generations. Their preparation, courage, agility and teamwork lit our hearts.

No one is handwringing over general food waste throughout the supply chain such as supermarkets (which we absolutely should be!) - so let’s call this what it is, scrutiny of the poor because we feel entitled to judge.
In the schools I've worked the school lunches are making a huge difference, even for some families when kids take a leftover lunch home. If Treasury is so concerned about this why not pick up the ph to MoE and ask them to adjust a few school lunch orders. So hard? Not really.
