throughout the course of last year i spoke to folks living with convictions and heard how the has pandemic disproportionately them. i'm very excited that i can share their stories with you through an audio series.
it's time we automatically expunged all records.
Living with a #criminalrecord carries thousands of “collateral consequences,” which means doing anything is harder.
The pandemic has only worsened these consequences for the 1 in 3 Americans who has some type of criminal record.
Our new audio series explores the impact. ▶️
A lot of well-meaning people look down on those brainwashed by Fox News but are unable to see how New York Times and other for-profit media does similar things to them. The mythologies differ, but they are just as ideological, and their role is to preserve structural inequality.
This year Mayor London Beed will appoint 3 school board members, a city attorney, a supervisor, and a district attorney. She cut her office of housing budget by 20%
What happens now has to be on the Mayor.
No more passing the buck. We can't afford anymore of these distractions
There is so much organizing that needs to be done in San Francisco and none of it depends on who is in office.
People are doing stuff, join up with them.
Abolition Now.
This is a jaw-dropping data point:
“SFPD continues to arrest a number of Black people equal to the entire Black population of the city every 87 months.”
all research without organizing is extractive. do the work and “research” is inevitable. you’ll know a community when you make a commitment to that community.

Kinda nuts that the Met Gal theme is the gilded age and behind the scenes Conde Nast workers are putting in unpaid overtime to make the event happen while they still haven't gotten union recognition. It's a little on the nose.
Here's a fun game. It's called Karl Marx or the Bible. It's simple. There's a few quotes and you have to figure out if they come from Marx or the Bible. 🧵
“Dacari’s past does not open him up to abuse”
Seems like the system is always prosecuting Black men even when they’re not on trial.
Abolish policing & prisons.‼️
We are beyond excited for our fellow civic tech workers @Nava_United! ✊🎉 Together we will raise the bar for our industry to sustainably serve the most vulnerable.
There are many colleagues who helped lay the groundwork for our team. Without their advocacy & insight, we wouldn’t be where we are now.
One of those colleagues is @aditisjoshi — who was a service design fellow in 2018.
Enjoy our conversation. 🥳

Interviewed and hired on the spot, offered $20 an hour contingent on a background check. I disclose, they rescind. This makes the 24th rejection. Someday this will stop. There is not an employee shortage there is a second chance shortage. #hireus
