I don't think Anthropic is as wrong as people are making it seem.

Within hours of frontier weights being publicly released, agents will be roaming the internet with cyber guardrails stripped and fine-tuned to be completely evil.

Software worldwide won't be fortified in time.

@zdogmode I feel like weekends give you the chance to work on internal company stuff since you don't need to talk to customers. Like ops, sales prep, product features and improvements, scheduling follow-ups.

Taking the entire weekend off is a missed opportunity.

Which is really cool, it's all engineering now. AI has gotten intelligent enough that our systems are the problem.

@thatguybg This might be true but the timeline will be longer than you think. Many industries still use legacy software from the '90s, with their data not even on the cloud.

There needs to be a local harness that's just as good as codex/claude, will be huge for these industries.

@nicbstme I disagree. Efficiency gains have demonstrably closed the gap in compute between players, DeepSeek is a major example of this.

And you said it yourself, everyone catches up to the frontier eventually.

I don't think there's truly a moat when it comes to AI.

Something I like to do is use AI as little as possible when drafting a proposal/spec.

Clearly define the problem, solution, scope, architecture all in my own words.

Makes the end product align with what I want a lot more, as well as easier to verify and trust the code.

Something I've noticed is that AI is pretty bad at UX.

Fable recommended having a certain input on a dashboard just 409, instead of disabling it.

Custom podcasts is cool in theory but doesn't make a lot of sense regarding travel guides or news briefings. The human opinion is the main value-add in all of these.

They should invest more resources toward solving personalized music recs instead.
