#Imp: If the drama over the Prime Minister’s birthday is over, can we now focus on how India still does not have a FULL-TIME Education Minister?

Pralhad Joshi, appointed after youth protests forced Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, is holding two other ministries. A ministry as big and important as the Education Ministry is sort of his “additional” charge.

The chatter within the BJP is that the Cabinet reshuffle is stuck because of serious disagreements between the PM and the HM. Over and above that, a silent rebellion by senior Ministers who have been asked to quit but are refusing to do so! It’s shocking how this government has totally lost the plot when it comes to governance. Entire Cabinet and state BJP govts have been put into lighting diyas and doing aarti of the mahamanav at the cost of serious governance. Completely lost touch with the ground. The young generation is anxious about its future but the government is busy spending taxpayer’s money in complete nonsense.

India and its youth deserve better, starting with a full-time Education Minister. The Prime Minister’s inability to reshuffle his cabinet is causing grave problems in the Education Ministry. Bureaucrats are chilling knowing that the Minister is eventually gonna go. But the reshuffle is pending since pre-Jantar Mantar months. A total collapse of governance!

Nithin Kamath (Zerodha) , believes the proposed MDR structure doesn’t really make sense for investing and broking.

Petrol pump dealers across India have threatened to stop accepting UPI payments of 2,000 above & switch to cash.

The most expensive part of a hospital bill may never touch the hospital at all.

A patient admitted for care has no way of knowing whether the price on a medical consumable reflects its actual cost or a markup fixed long before it ever reached the ward. That gap in information is, at its core, a public health issue.

A survey of hospital consumables in Maharashtra found an IV infusion set with a trade price of ₹11.05 carrying a printed MRP of ₹325 ; a markup of 2,841%. A syringe procured at ₹6.75 carried an MRP of ₹57.20. A catheter procured at ₹29.41 carried an MRP of ₹310.

These are not elective purchases. Patients cannot compare prices, seek alternatives, or question a number printed on a box while receiving care and the MRP itself is often fixed upstream by manufacturers and distributors, disconnected from the trade price by a wide, unexplained margin. The result is a system where the party bearing the cost has the least information to evaluate it.

The regulatory gap is structural: scheduled medicines are capped under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013. Most medical devices and consumables are not leaving both the pricing and the information around it almost entirely unmonitored.

A review of these findings and clear guidelines on the permissible gap between trade procurement price and declared MRP have been recommended to the Department of Pharmaceuticals and the NPPA ; a step toward closing not just a pricing gap, but the information gap patients are left to bear alone.

मोदी सरकार ने चुपचाप UPI पर फ़ीस लगाने का रास्ता खोल दिया है।

अब ₹2,000 से ऊपर के merchant UPI लेन-देन पर MDR लगाया जा सकता है। इन ट्रांजैक्शंस की संख्या भले ही सिर्फ़ 5% हो, लेकिन UPI के कुल transaction value का करीब 65% इन्हीं में है।

सरकार कहती है कि ग्राहक से कोई फ़ीस नहीं ली जाएगी। लेकिन दुकानदार पर लगने वाली फ़ीस आखिर आएगी कहां से? कीमतों में जुड़कर ग्राहक की जेब से।

अमेरिकी payment कंपनियां लंबे समय से भारत की zero-MDR नीति का विरोध करती रही हैं। अब मोदी सरकार ने ठीक उसी दिशा में नीति बदलने का रास्ता खोल दिया है।

US Trade Deal की तरह ही, Compromised PM मोदी एक बार फिर अमेरिकी दबाव के सामने surrender कर रहे हैं।

Now let’s remove the richest 1%.
It drops to — $2,189/year

Now remove the richest 10%.
Remaining 90%:
— $1,316/year
— $3.61/day = ₹339

Means around 125 cr people of india earn less than ₹339 ( average og 90%)

And here’s where it gets interesting.
$1,316 is lower than the per-capita GDP of several African countries, including:

Whether GDP grows at 7.8% or 2.6% matters far less to ordinary people if the gains are concentrated at the top.

Growth matters. But who gets the growth matters even more.

The government should worry less about its billionaire friends and more about the 90% of Indians who actually vote for it.
