During fieldwork in Tasmania earlier this year, found this velvet worm, Tasmanipatus barretti, in one of the best woodpiles I've ever looked through. Seems a little shy. A rare species, listed as vulnerable. With permit. What a pleasure seeing this.

This paper features the most complete family-level phylogeny of Opiliones ever made: 61/63 families represented!

Ever heard about crazy hairworms that infect insects and make them jump into water so the worm can get out and find mates?

Well, we sequenced the first genomes of this entire phylum of animals, and learned that they are even weirder than we thought!

We sequenced and assembled the genome of the priapulan, Tubiluchus corallicola (a tiny marine worm that lives in the sediment of Castle Harbor, Bermuda). It may just be a tiny worm, but we hope it'll make a big contribution to understanding the evolution of molting animals!
