Imagine dozens of students and teachers being quarantined for 14 days. Imagine having to switch between online and in-person learning. Dozens of kids...multiple classrooms...every week.
We WANT kids back in class, but to go back for the long term without ⬆️ risk of disruption.
Each positive case will expose dozens of students, staff, and teachers, forcing many to quarantine.
This will happen week after week until our spread is controlled.
There is a reason why nearly every developed nation in the world didn’t open schools at this level of spread.
At our rate of community transmission...
A 500-person school has a roughly 60% chance of seeing a positive case within a week.
A 1000-person school has a roughly 85% chance of seeing a positive case within a week.
