Between 2019 and 2023, Ethiopia made notable strides under the Green Legacy Initiative, raising its national forest cover from 17.2% to 23.6%. Although this still falls short of the 31% global average, a well-organized national campaign is turning the tide. Through a remarkable nationwide effort, millions of people across all regions came together to plant over 800 million seedlings in just one day. This shared commitment is driving the country toward its strategic goal of reaching 30% forest coverage by 2030.
