✨ Official Opening Mass of the 21st AMECEA Plenary Assembly ✨

During the Official Opening Mass of the 21st AMECEA Plenary Assembly at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), Karen, Michael Cardinal Czerny reflected on the reality of the Kingdom of Heaven, drawing from the three Gospel parables of the mustard seed, the weeds and the wheat, and the yeast.

The Cardinal reminded the faithful that the Kingdom of God is not only a future promise but is already present among us. He invited everyone to reflect on what it means to live as faithful servants, allowing God's Kingdom to take root and grow in their daily lives.

Reflecting on the parable of the mustard seed, Cardinal Czerny emphasized that God's Kingdom often begins in small and humble ways, yet grows into something great. Just as the tiny seed flourishes despite many challenges, Christians are called to persevere in hope and faithfully follow Christ. Quoting Pope Francis, he encouraged especially the young people: "Please do not let yourselves be robbed of hope."

On the parable of the weeds and the wheat, he highlighted the virtues of patience and prudence, reminding the faithful that God works patiently in the world and in the Church. Citing Pope Benedict XVI, he said: "The world is redeemed by the patience of God; it is destroyed by the impatience of man."

Turning to the parable of the yeast, the Cardinal explained that although yeast works quietly and almost invisibly, it transforms the whole dough from within. In the same way, Christians are called to quietly transform society through lives rooted in the Gospel. Echoing the words of Pope Leo XIV, he reminded the faithful that Christians are not called to flee from the world, but to transform it according to God's plan by bearing witness to the Gospel in every sphere of life.

In conclusion, Cardinal Czerny encouraged all Christians to become a transforming presence in the world, bringing hope, patience, faith, and love wherever they are, just as yeast silently transforms the dough and the mustard seed grows into a shelter for many.

Early this morning, Archbishop Dominic Kimengich and our Archbishop Anthony Muheria, and other bishops joined hundreds of young people in praying the Holy Rosary at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), Karen, as part of the spiritual preparation for the Official Opening Mass of the 21st AMECEA Plenary Assembly.

The prayerful gathering entrusted the Plenary Assembly, the youth, and the Church in the AMECEA region to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, invoking God's guidance, wisdom, and grace for the days ahead.

✨ Family Day, Sacrament of Holy Matrimony and Confirmation at St. Peter Kabiru-ini Catholic Parish ✨

It was a joyful celebration at St. Peter Kabiru-ini Catholic Parish as the faithful gathered for Family Day, during which six couples received the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony and 126 Christians received the Sacrament of Confirmation. The Holy Mass was presided over by our Archbishop Anthony Muheria.

In his homily, Archbishop reflected on the day's readings, reminding the faithful to rejoice because Christ, our King, comes bringing peace, forgiveness, and salvation.

Drawing from the life of St. Peter, the Archbishop recalled how Peter confidently believed he would never deny Christ, yet later denied Him three times. He noted that this reminds Christians not to rely on their own strength or become proud, but to recognize their weaknesses and remain humble before God.

He emphasized that pride prevents Christ from working in our lives, while humility opens our hearts to God's grace and mercy.

Addressing the confirmands,Archbishop encouraged them to allow the gifts of the Holy Spirit to strengthen them with courage, wisdom, and humility. He urged them to remain humble like little children so that God may continue to guide and bless them throughout their lives.

Archbishop also reminded all Christians that, like St. Peter, every person can fall, but true greatness lies in repentance, seeking forgiveness, and being willing to change. Humility, he said, enables us to accept correction and draw closer to God.

Speaking to the newly married couples, he reminded them that Christian marriage is built by husband, wife, and God. He encouraged them to nurture their families through forgiveness, prayer, mutual respect, and love, always being quick to say "I'm sorry" and equally quick to forgive one another.

In conclusion, Archbishop called upon all the faithful to imitate Christ's selfless love, living lives marked by generosity, compassion, and a willingness to serve others.

✨ Catholic Teachers' Day Celebration ✨

The Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri joyfully celebrated Catholic Teachers' Day, bringing together teachers, school administrators, and education stakeholders for a day of prayer, thanksgiving, and renewal. The Holy Mass was presided over by our Archbishop Anthony Muheria.

In his homily, Archbishop reflected on the Book of Sirach, reminding the faithful that God created humanity in wisdom, and that this wisdom is nurtured within us through the gift of the Holy Spirit. He noted that while God is the Creator and author of all wisdom, human beings can only fully understand it by remaining close to Him.

Using the image of the moon, Archbishop explained that the moon has no light of its own but shines by reflecting the sun. Likewise, Christians and especially teachers are called to reflect the light and beauty of God in their words, actions, and daily lives.

"The moon shines because it reflects the sun. In the same way, when we place ourselves before God, His beauty shines through us despite our weaknesses and imperfections."

Archbishop challenged Catholic teachers to reflect on whether they truly live out their vocation as authentic witnesses of Christ. He encouraged them to continually position themselves before God so that His wisdom and goodness may be visible through their service.

He further reminded teachers that they are called to be the light and salt of the world, opening their hearts to God's grace and allowing Him to transform them into instruments of hope for the young people entrusted to their care.

Recognizing the many challenges facing today's learners, Archbishop urged teachers to nurture resilience, faith, and moral character among the youth. He also encouraged young teachers to reject dishonesty and shortcuts, embracing integrity, sacrifice, and commitment in their profession.

Archbishop called on educators to be approachable, joyful, and content in their vocation, serving with generosity and love. Following the example of Mother Mary, he encouraged them to become teachers of faith through the ordinary witness of their daily lives.

As Guest of Honour, Mr. Elijah Omwega, Regional Director of Education – TSC, noted that while parents give children life, teachers impart the art of living. He emphasized that educators are mentors and role models who shape not only the academic growth of learners but also their values and character.

He called upon teachers to renew their commitment to the noble vocation of education by continuing to instill hope, justice, integrity, and moral values in schools. Mr. Omwega also expressed his appreciation to the Catholic Church for its unwavering contribution to education and the holistic formation of learners.

In his concluding remarks, he prayed that the Holy Spirit would continue to guide, strengthen, and inspire all teachers as they carry out their mission of educating, mentoring, and forming future generations.

✨ Family Day and Jubilee Wedding Celebration at St. Paul Matanya Catholic Parish ✨

It was a joyful celebration at St. Paul Matanya Catholic Parish as the faithful marked Family Day and celebrated the Jubilee Wedding of 26 couples, with the Holy Mass presided over by our Archbishop Anthony Muheria.

In his homily, Archbishop reflected on the feast of St. Paul, reminding the faithful that the Word of God is a source of healing, giving strength to the soul and leading believers to the fullness of life in Christ.

Drawing from the writings of St. Paul, he emphasized that through Christ's death and resurrection, Christians are called to live a new life in God's goodness and joy. He encouraged the faithful to continually "taste and see that the Lord is good," recalling Christ's promise that whoever receives Him will have eternal life.

Archbishop challenged Christians not to allow worldly desires to drive Christ from their hearts. Instead, they should be proud of their Christian identity and remain steadfast in faith, resisting anything that diminishes their relationship with God.

Reflecting on the First Reading, he highlighted the generosity of the Shunammite woman, who prepared a room for the Prophet Elisha. In the same way, he urged every family to make room for Christ in their homes, reminding them that Christians are called not merely to build houses, but to build holy homes where God is welcomed and honored.

Referring to the Gospel, Archbishop reminded the faithful that Christ calls His followers to love Him above all else. He encouraged them to entrust every aspect of their lives to the Lord, placing Him at the center of their families.

Addressing the 26 jubilee couples, he encouraged them to continue loving one another faithfully, reminding them that genuine love is expressed through forgiveness, prayer, sacrifice, and mutual support. He prayed that Christ may continue to reign in their families, making them shining examples of Christian marriage.

In conclusion,Archbishop called upon all Christians to be known for their generosity, kindness, and service, reaching out to those in need and witnessing God's love through acts of mercy.

✨ Consolata Day Celebration and Sacrament of Confirmation at Consolata School Nyeri ✨

It was a joyful celebration at Consolata School Nyeri as the school marked Consolata Day, with 36 learners receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. The Church also celebrated the Solemnity of the Birth of St. John the Baptist. The Holy Mass was presided over by Archbishop Anthony Muheria.

In his homily, the Archbishop reminded the learners that the Bible connects us to God's saving action throughout history and continues to speak to us today as God's message for our lives.

Reflecting on the call of Prophet Isaiah, he noted that although Isaiah felt unworthy because of his shortcomings, God chose and strengthened him for His mission. In the same way, God calls each person despite their weaknesses and equips them for service.

Addressing the confirmands, the Archbishop reminded them that they have been sent by God to be a light to others, spreading hope, love, and joy wherever they go. He encouraged them to be messengers of Christ who uplift others rather than become sources of discouragement or division.

Reflecting on the birth of St. John the Baptist, born to Elizabeth and Zechariah in their old age, the Archbishop emphasized God's faithfulness and encouraged the faithful to trust in Him through prayer, believing that He listens to and answers the needs of His people.

He urged the newly confirmed to ask God for the courage to become strong and faithful witnesses of Christ, demonstrating their faith through acts of mercy, kindness, and service.

Archbishop further challenged the learners to follow the example of St. John the Baptist by preparing the way for Jesus in their homes, schools, and communities. He reminded them that prayer is an essential part of this mission, describing it as a personal conversation with God where we share our thoughts, hopes, and struggles.

In conclusion, he entrusted the school community to the care of Mother Mary Consolata, praying that she may continue to console and guide them through life's challenges.

✨ Priestly Ordination Celebration ✨
During the Ordination Mass, our Archbishop Anthony Muheria delivered a profound message to the newly ordained priests, drawing from the words of St. Paul: “Live a life worthy of your vocation”.

Reflecting on the call of Prophet Jeremiah, the Archbishop noted that although Jeremiah felt inadequate and unworthy, God reassured him with His presence and strength. In the same way, he reminded the ordinands that what matters most is not their own abilities, knowledge, or strength, but the One who has called them.

Archbishop explained that a life worthy of the priestly vocation is one marked by humility, patience, and constant awareness of one's dependence on God. God's power works most effectively through those who recognize their own weakness and allow Him to lead.

Addressing the newly ordained, he reminded them that through ordination they become instruments of Christ, channels through which God's grace reaches His people. As they preach and administer the sacraments, they are called to do so with gratitude and humility, always remembering that they are servants chosen by God.

He encouraged them to proclaim the Gospel not in a spirit of condemnation but with compassion and humility, listening attentively to God's voice so that He may speak through them. They were urged never to forget whom they serve and to remain faithful to the message of Christ without deviation.

Archbishop also emphasized the importance of accompanying God's people on their journey of faith, especially through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, walking patiently with each person according to their needs and circumstances.

He challenged the new priests to be good shepherds, slow to anger, faithful in purity, and committed to living holy lives. Like Christ, they are called to listen with love, serve with humility, and dedicate themselves completely to the people entrusted to their care.

Entrusting them to the care of the Blessed Virgin Mary, he encouraged them to hold firmly to her hand and allow her to guide them in their priestly ministry.

Archbishop also expressed gratitude to the parents and families of the newly ordained priests, praying that God may bless them abundantly for their sacrifices and support.

Finally, he called upon all Christians to continually pray for priests, that they may be blessed with good health, wisdom, perseverance, and fidelity as they serve Christ and His Church.

✨ Feast of Corpus Christi at Our Lady Consolata Cathedral ✨

Our Archbishop Anthony Muheria joined the faithful of Our Lady Consolata Cathedral in celebrating the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, a profound celebration of the Real Presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist.

In his homily, the Archbishop reflected on Christ's words:

“This is my Body and this is my Blood.”

He reminded the faithful that through these words, Jesus chose to remain with His people, inviting all Christians into communion with Him through the Eucharist. He emphasized that in the Holy Eucharist, we encounter not a symbol, but Jesus Himself, truly present among us.

Reflecting on the Sequence (Lauda Sion), the Archbishop challenged Christians to deepen their faith and ask themselves whether they truly believe and proclaim Christ as their Lord, King, and Savior.

He noted that the Corpus Christi procession is a public profession of faith in Christ's presence in the Blessed Sacrament, witnessing to the world that Jesus remains at the center of our lives.

The Archbishop reminded the faithful that Christ in the Eucharist is our source of strength, helping us overcome life's challenges and difficulties.

Sharing a moving example, he recounted the story of a man who had lost hope and contemplated ending his life, but after spending time before Jesus in the Tabernacle, found healing, renewed hope, and the courage to continue living.

He encouraged all Christians to cultivate a deep friendship with Christ in the Eucharist, allowing Him to renew their faith and strengthen them for service.

In conclusion, the Archbishop called on the faithful to imitate Christ's self-giving love by offering themselves generously in service to others.

“Without the Eucharist, we do not exist. May we always find our strength, hope, and life in Christ present in the Blessed Sacrament.”
