In the throes of her fright, the other takes an offensive position. That by itself reveals plenty to the other — in defense, Rose equips none other than her shield, meeting her horn in a quick clash.

As if by some kind of *cue*, the gem whips around. 'Hooves' stomp into the dirt, and the hook-like horn is swung blindly at the gem with practiced speed.

The throes of terror are incredibly visible as the pearl stances for combat - trembling, but standing *stark*.

Ever so familiar with the signs of a corrupt gem, a sense of pity fills her as she watches the Pearl go, seeming comfortable with the stealthy life she leads.

“I’m sorry to disturb you,” she murmurs, just enough for her to hear.

The corrupt gem, for the most part, doesn't seem to notice Rose as it walks, pauses, and then walks again. It weaves between the trees, not *daring* to leave the line that marks the end of the wood.
