A lot of people misunderstand why none of the suitors could string Odysseus’s bow.
The bow was palintonos (often translated as “bending back” or “back-bending”), meaning it had to be flexed backward before the string could be attached. It wasn’t a normal bow that you could simply pull and string with brute strength. It required a very specific technique and immense control.
That’s why every suitor failed, while Odysseus who knew the bow better than anyone strung it with ease.
