When I finished the first edition of my intro book and sent it for editing, I thought I was home free. Then the publisher returned the edited manuscript. The most memorable edit: every instance of “maximum likelihood estimator” had been changed to “most likely estimator.”
I encourage young econometricians: don't just prove theorems; learn more economics, and work with empirically applied economists. The demand for econometrics is greater than ever; go out and supply what's needed!
