NVIDIA, Microsoft, Arm, and MediaTek are teasing a "new era of PC" ahead of Computex 2026.
The teaser is widely believed to be related to NVIDIA's upcoming N1/N1X Windows-on-Arm chips, which are reportedly being developed in partnership with MediaTek.
Expected specifications:
- Up to a 20-core Arm-based CPU for handling everyday tasks and productivity workloads
- Blackwell-based NVIDIA GPU for graphics, gaming, and AI workloads
- Dedicated NPU (Neural Processing Unit) to accelerate AI features directly on the device
- Focus on better power efficiency and battery life compared to traditional laptop processors
If these rumors turn out to be accurate, NVIDIA could become another major player in the Windows laptop processor market alongside Qualcomm, Intel, and AMD.
More details are expected at Computex 2026 next week. 👀
Huge day for Windows on Arm, as Nvidia is expected to unveil its Arm-based N1X laptops next week.
There was a time when Windows on Arm was barely usable, but thanks to advances from Qualcomm, Arm, and Microsoft, that's no longer the case.
Windows on Arm is now in a much healthier position, and Nvidia's entry into the market could further shake things up.
Most popular apps can natively run on Windows 11 Arm, and games are also slowly catching up.
Qualcomm is already challenging Apple's latest silicon, and Nvidia could take that competition even further.
What is the possibility that after the launch of @nvidia N1 & N1X, in the next 3–4 years @Apple could consider shifting future Macs to those chips instead of Apple Silicon? 👀
The performance, AI acceleration, and ecosystem battle is about to get very interesting.

Microsoft confirms Windows Update has been downgrading your GPU drivers as many times you tried updating manually.
Right now, Windows Update can treat an OEM-approved driver as the “best-ranked” match for your hardware, even if you manually installed a newer Intel, AMD, or Nvidia driver from the chipmaker’s website.
That is why some of you see Windows replace a fresh 2026 graphics driver with an older version from 2024 or earlier. It is not simply checking the driver version or date. It is following its targeting and ranking system.
The good news is that Microsoft is changing the policy. New display drivers can now use narrower targeting with 2-part HWIDs and CHIDs, so updates are scoped to the specific PCs they are meant for.
It's all part of Microsoft's plans to make the Windows 11 experience less annoying.
