The saga that @ChicagosMayor and his lame duck school board created is far, far from over!
What is over is @ChicagosMayor’s ability to lead this city any longer
The CBOE and Mayor Johnson’s decision is downright disgraceful. The entire city is now bearing witness to this scheme as it unfolds. We will hold you accountable. Chicago is better than this! Our kids deserve better!
In the rush to adjourn after firing Chicago Public Schools CEO Pedro Martinez, the school board forgot to spell out the terms & resumed the meeting.
Martinez was dismissed without cause. He will remain on the job for 6 months & receive 20 weeks of severance. He makes $340,000.
We are deeply concerned about the potential employment action against CPS CEO Pedro Martinez and hope that the board leadership will delay this discussion until the full board can participate in January.
Statement below:
Beside the fact the vast majority of Chicago residents, parents & CPS Principals are opposed to firing CPS CEO Pedro Martinez for refusing to take out a dreadful $300 million payday loan, scheduling this important meeting during Shabbat is wrong. It needs to be rescheduled.
BTW, having been a @ChiPubSchools board member who was appointed Interim CEO in 2015, that was AFTER the then CEO stepped down. There were NEVER two people with CEO authority at the same time, IL school code does not provide for that.
Before Chicagoans elect school board members, they can vote for their Local School Council @CPLHouse talked to four current and former LSC members about their unique role in @ChiPubSchools@chalkbeatCHI https://t.co/ysPP96SSKJ
