The girls who were allowed to “date” in middle and high school ended up still dating at age 30 or with multiple divorces. No healthy relationships. The girls who had restrictions on romantic activities when they were teenagers ended up marrying a good man in their early to mid twenties. This is not an accident. This is because these girls were given time to develop their sense of self and dignity without male attention being a distraction in the teenage years. And when they were permitted to find someone they looked at it far more seriously. Because they had never experienced romance “unseriously”.
I think the assumption that learning is worksheets and play is fun is the issue here.
Honestly I think worksheets are deeply outdated and inefficient especially given the access to modern technology.
I believe learning and play should be integrated for any age.
A few moms pushed back that play is not all a young child needs.
I get it. I was a straight A student. If I had it my way, I’d sit my 4 year old down for 2 hours of worksheets a day because I actually enjoy that kind of work.
That is about me, not him.
At 4, especially as a boy, what he wants most is to burn energy and explore the world. My best memories as a kid came from playing. I would never steal those hours so I can feel productive.
For a young child, play is the work. Deep play is how they build their attention span, imagination, social skills, and a hunger to learn later.
Protect the play time. The worksheets can wait.
I think it’s obtuse to lump everyone into a fear of aging bucket. Longevity medicine can make you uncomfortable but that’s no need to villainize the other side.
The calculus is simple. We are at a point where extending healthy years is possible. For many of us that’s exciting.
Why yes I do actually want to create cringe family traditions like matching Christmas pajamas, Sunday dinners, handwritten birthday letters, Christmas cookie baking day, annual portraits, and celebrating our anniversary like it’s a birthday every year.
I did a cold plunge once and could feel my life force being sucked out my body lmao now I just simply take a regular cold shower after the sauna.. similar systemic shock less trauma
