I put a 7-day trial on a menu-bar app. People got weird about it.

You already pay $18/mo to an AI that autocompletes comments. A one-time utility that sits in your menu bar and shuts the desktop up is apparently “too commercial.”

If the tool is free forever, the product is you, or the maintainer is unpaid. I picked neither.

Hotkeys are a tax on people who already have 40 of them.

Shipped a blur overlay. Set “exclude from screenshots.”

Sequoia ignored it. Zoom started broadcasting the effect in screen share.

Still didn’t request Screen Recording.

I detect the share chrome from window size and process name, then pause.

Apple broke the flag. I refused the obvious fix.

They shuffle your windows. I leave them where you put them and fade the rest.

Focus is not a new layout. It’s less visual noise.
