A volte leggendo quello che fanno penso di sognare.

Nel milleproroghe, il Governo Meloni obbliga le imprese italiane a farsi una polizza catastrofale, causa cambiamento climatico (che loro negano).

In 20 giorni dovranno stipularle e se le dovranno pagare di tasca loro, centesimo per centesimo.

Ma - qui la fase REM del sogno - le compagnie assicurative godranno di un sostegno di 5 miliardi (per ora) da parte dello Stato in caso di perdite.

Cioè, per capirci, il Governo prende di peso centinaia di migliaia di imprese e le offre alle assicurazioni, garatendo loro probabilmente miliardi di profitto. E già questo è un regalone. Non pago, prende i soldi dei contribuenti e li mette a loro disposizione nel caso in cui poi si ritrovassero davvero a dover risarcire le imprese assicurate.

Tutto ciò è accademicamente meraviglioso. Un sogno, appunto. Non perché sia bello, ma perché onirico e contorto, offrendo esso una straordinaria rivisitazione del capitalismo: finché c'è da guadagnare ti riempi tu, e solo tu, padrone, le tasche, fino a fartele scoppiare. Di più: è lo Stato che ti porta per mano i clienti, obbligandoli a servirsi da te. Quando però c'è da pagare, quello Stato ti fa collettivizzare le perdite, che ricadono su di tutti, incluse le imprese che già ti pagano l'assicurazione. Che così ti pagano due volte.

Un capolavoro.
Io davvero rimango allibito, credetemi.
Perché questo è brigantaggio, non governo del Paese.

Seems like it’s time for me to explain again, why Ukraine cannot simply freeze the war and call it peace:

- Without a defense clause and troops on the ground from other countries, Ukraine will need a massive standing army to guard a frontline spanning over a thousand kilometers.

- No deterrence against a new invasion will drive more people to leave as borders reopen, fearing a repeat attack.

- Post-war elections in a democratic Ukraine will spark a political crisis if Zelensky is forced into a bad peace deal.

- A nation in political turmoil, under constant Russian threat, won’t attract investments or recover its economy with high-interest loans.

- It will embolden those who argue that yielding to Russian demands is the only way to avoid Ukraine’s fate, referring to a cheap oil and gas as justification.

- An impoverished, crisis-ridden Ukraine will be no match for a partially recovering Russia, which can leverage eased sanctions and resource exports.

- Aid at current levels won’t continue indefinitely, while Russia has more potential to recover than an aid-deprived Ukraine.

In short, any deal that doesn’t deter Russia from a second invasion is a death sentence for Ukraine

“Every decision taken by Tory (and @LibDems) governments was a political decision—it did not need to happen that way. Austerity was never the hard logic of dutiful caretakers; it was a political calculation to rescue rich friends and dump the burdensome price on those least able to endure the cost.”

“There is mold in the walls and shit in the rivers, posh butter in the supermarkets has anti-theft tags stuck to it, the trains run on schedule about half the time, the average pub-poured pint of lager—the blood of the nation—is nearing the criminal price of 5 pounds ($6.34), and on May 22 a new general election was announced to the people of Great Britain by a prime minister who is richer than the king. 

“Should the polls prove correct—short of a 2016-scale error—the annihilation will be justified. Wage growth is at its lowest level since the Napoleonic Wars. What the Financial Timescalls the “rental market” and what the rest of us call “How much of your money someone richer than you takes every month” is stratospherically inflated; rent is about half a person’s average salary in London.
