During a rest break with my patient, I got to hear her recount the story of when she learned she was going to get a heart transplant, conveying all the emotions she felt. Bonding moments like this are reasons I love acute care!
Today while in the hospital stairwell, an employee saw my grape scrubs & said “PTs are such hard workers! You all work so hard for your patients!” Although I certainly don’t work for praise, it’s so good to hear firsthand how PTs in acute care are valued & appreciated!
Yall, I’m learning that 12 hour shifts in a Level 1 trauma hospital are no joke....
But here’s what keeps me going: the value that PT offers in the acute care setting to ensure the safest discharge setting for patients.
