Excited to announce that Season 2 of Altered States begins next week!
We're examining the spiritual side of psychedelics, and how that side has been interacting with the more science-oriented side of psychedelics. In other words: This is gonna be good https://t.co/PBh9qaMRVn

And btw, the trailer for this season is EXTREMELY good. This is definitely one of the best podcast trailers I've ever been a part of... which bodes very well for the season ahead!
Thanks for making this possible @prx@SciPsychedelics

The end of this season marks the end of my 1st year of freelance podcast hosting. I launched 2 seasons of 2 shows this year, including the launch of a brand new show. Feels good!
Altered States, the psychedelics podcast I made w/ SciPsychedelics wrapped its 1st season this week! It was a complete success. Our final episode centers around a former Navy SEAL & his wife as they take psychedelics, namely Ibogaine, to try to heal https://t.co/6lc3v2t4Re
I don't typically just say that out loud, but I'm going for it so if anyone wants to help me make that happen, hit me up :)
I'll also be working a few other projects here and there until the end of the year—and figuring out what 2025 looks like.
The folks @scipsychedelics and @prx, plus the freelance producers who helped make this show happen (like the incredible @adizaheghan) really turned this into an incredible experience.
Very happy I got to do this!

NEW podcast episode is up!
"What Happens When Israelis and Palestinians Drink Ayahuasca Together?"
Welcome to another episode of The Tim Ferriss Show. For this episode, I’m doing something different. I’m featuring a very special episode from a brand-new podcast called Altered States.
Here’s the teaser for the episode you’re about to hear: “For the last couple of years, producer @shainashealy has been following Israeli and Palestinian peace activists who have been coming together to drink the psychedelic brew ayahuasca in an effort to heal their collective intergenerational trauma. It seemed to be helping them when suddenly the region erupts into chaos and violence.”
Shaina Shealy was a fellow from the Ferriss-UC Berkeley Psychedelic Journalism Fellowship, which offers ten $10,000 reporting grants per year to journalists reporting in-depth print and audio stories on the science, policy, business and culture of this new era of psychedelics. The fellowship is supported by my foundation, the Saisei Foundation, and made possible in collaboration with @michaelpollan, @mwollan, and others at UC Berkeley.
Altered States looks at how people are taking psychedelics, who has access to them, how they’re regulated, who stands to profit, and what these substances might offer us as individuals and as a society.
Please enjoy!

Glad Apple continues to think about accessibility — but if there’s one thing I’ve learned reporting on the FDA and medical devices, it’s never buy a product based on the promise of future FDA clearances.
In the latest Altered States, I talked to Heather, who told me about how she developed Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder (HPPD) after taking psilocybin as part of a clinical trial for treatment-resistant depression. There’s a lot to learn here: https://t.co/yI966VLG2K
