@joshjaco98 We sure we gotta trade him? Not sure what you get for him would be more valuable than what he offers. I say pick up the option and run it back next season. We have other pieces like Noot we can offload to help strengthen the bullpen.
@SandyMac718 I like George. He gave up the two big hits and run but he’s probably been the more steady reliever in the pen. The rest of the guys can go.
@StlMac_ I doubt you’re locking him up cheap now. I 100% respect your opinion and most of your opinions. That’s why I follow you lol. Maybe Vogelbach wasn’t the best comparison. I just want the team to be cautious. I don’t want us to get burned long term. That’s it.
@StlMac_ The Vogelbach comparison was just to show that sometimes guys have a breakout year and then struggle again. That’s what makes me nervous about locking him up long term. I’ll be the first to say lock him up if he does this again next season.
@StlMac_ I’m not discrediting him at all. I am pumped what he’s doing. I’ve always wanted him to succeed. I’m just not ready to throw $100mil at a guy who we don’t know if this is sustainable or not. Again if he’s still doing it at this time next year. Throw 200Mil at him.
@StlMac_ I think you’re greatly misunderstanding my take. I love Walker, want him to succeed, and hope he’s the future. I just want to make sure this is who he truly is before we lock him up for 8+ years. That’s it. I’m not saying he sucks or anything.
@StlMac_ What’s so crazy about wanting to see if his success is sustainable before throwing a bunch of money at him? If you sign him for that and he goes back to his old self, our finances are blocked for other assets. I say wait until this point next year then lock him up.
@StlMac_ Find me another guy who started off as bad and then went on to be a franchise type talent? David Ortiz is the only player I can think of that started out so poorly then became a legend.
@StlMac_ Remember Daniel Vogelbach? Started out mediocre, dropped a 30hr season considered a possible MVP and then posted -War seasons the rest of his career.
@StlMac_ Two different scenarios. J.J is a rookie that you sign while you know he is cheap. This is Walkers 4th season. 3 of those years he’s been below average. How do we know this year isn’t an outlier year for Walker?
@StlMac_ This season yes. But he’s only been this good for half a season. I’m not ready to throw a guy $100+ mil that has only been good for a little over 3 months.
