Yesterday, we (FAST) launched a formal complaint to the Leader of @WSCCNews Paul Marshall, over the lack of accountability and action since their litany of failures on school planning outlined in their own 52-page report

Given the importance of skills to growth this is a pretty devastating assessment from the committee chaired by @JoJohnsonUK “many pupils now have fewer opportunities to experience more practical, applied forms of learning, and to study creative, technical and vocational subjects”
Read this to fully understand- in her owns words what #ruthperry went through. These notes were found by her sister Julia Waters after her sister’s death. Warning this is powerful & distressing because it is so directly from Ruth Perry’s own thoughts https://t.co/2OqOisZRvQ
I am concerned about the impact on school leaders this system will have says Heidi Connor. A school inadequate in all areas gets the same treatment as a school good in all areas, but with safeguarding issues that can be fixed. Both would face academisation and job losses
Ofsted has publicly described ruth perry's death as a "pivot to discredit" them ( Amanda Spielman Womans hour 2 weeks ago) Heidi Connor senior coroner suggests this is a lack of looking at the facts in this case or learning from it
Heidi Connor turns now to causation - did the Ofsted inspection contribute more than minimally to Ruth's mental state and death. Witnesses have said yes - including two medical professionals - so she find it is very clear
During and after the Ofsted inspection Ruth's mental health deteriorated considerably. Verdict is suicide contributed to by an Ofsted inspection carried out in November 2022 #RuthPerry
Why are we building new cycle lanes in the West Midlands?
The evidence for doing so is clear but too often you hear politicians trying to talk it down because they’re worried it might not be universally popular.
Not @andy4wm, who explained to a caller earlier on @bbcwm 👇
#ThrowbackThursday
- 7 years ago we highlighted to all the powers that be that we were heading for a school places crisis
- 7 years later, we're now IN the school places crisis
- 52-page report confirmed failings
- Not one thing has changed
- No one has been held to account
Why?
@Louise_Gilbert3@timloughton They will need to hire teachers and there will be larger class sizes. (Same at Shoreham Academy). There aren’t as many people leaving as they are taking so will be more pressure on facilities.
E.g. 4 showers for 1000+ pupils.
£’s needed for infrastructure at BOTH schools.
This morning @adurfuture were on @DannyPike breakfast show on @BBCSussex
We talk
- +70 places on offer for 2024 @SRWAcademy
- How there is still a lot of work required by @WSCCNews to move beyond these sticking plaster solutions.
Listen back here (5min)

We also need some level of accountability from @WSCCNews
You can't have 52 page report full of criticism and everyone carries on business as usual.
Can we assume you will also support us in our formal complaint?
And can we please ensure parents reps are at key meetings. 🙏
@SRWAcademy have offered 70 extra places for 2024 entry ✅
Great that you agree 👆🏼 = short-term fix & more is needed for @WSCCNews to sort:
Transport❌
Catchment❌
> physical capacity @shorehamacademy (and SRWA) ❌
🙏 4 support

The news that Sir Robert Woodard Academy has agreed to take a further 70 pupils for the next school year in September 2024 is very welcome and should hopefully address the immediate shortfall in Adur places for pupils coming from west Shoreham.
Andy McGregor asks what proportion of children have to wait - are there any success stories? Ms Westwood said 534 responses & 1500 comments were received to the survey. Only 5 comments were positive. Called that 'devastating'. @WSCCNews#LDReporter
We’re on a mission to transform our streets and towns! Investing in active travel to boost footfall, support local businesses and drive economic prosperity.

#ActiveTravel
Map of @WSHighways' proposed priorities in its 13-year plan:
SIX priority cycle routes, but NONE in #Adur, despite:
- Shortage of safe cycle routes
- Expanding population needing safe ways to travel
- Significant travel to/from Brighton/Hove
Has @WSCCnews simply given up on Adur?
Why is this relevant to schools?
Well, our kids are being sent to school further and further away from where they live. This puts even more pressure on our congested roads and our kids' physical and mental health. Because it's too far or unsafe to walk or cycle to school /3
@adurandworthing is asking for feedback on @WSCCNews Active Travel (walking and cycling) plans
to 2036.
This fits 100% with our mission to provide 'safe and appropriate long term planning of school place provision in Adur including infrastructure' /1
https://t.co/8UP7QGu0B4
And yet these plans suggest that @WSCCNews@WSHighways projected spend of c.£50m on Active Travel in West Sussex to 2036
£ZERO will be spent in Adur / Shoreham
Why is this happening, and why is it important to schools and young families? /2
