These service providers ask for money in the pretext of service or processing fees and later, they will hand over a hose, which is totally useless. The SC didn't just quash this case, it named a pattern:

→ POCSO complaints filed as leverage in divorce proceedings
→ Fathers accused of assaulting their own minor daughters — specifically to gain custody/settlement advantage
→ Extended family roped in through omnibus & frivolous FIRs.

The Bench called it the "matrimonial bouquet" tactic.

The Court went further — it called out lawyers directly - Advocates must NOT advise clients to file vexatious criminal cases or false POCSO complaints to harass the opposite party or secure better settlements.

On May 29, 2026, the Bench of Justices B.V. Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuyan quashed 10+ criminal cases filed by the estranged wife - including POCSO charges against a father for allegedly assaulting his own daughter.

Marriage broke down in 2011, then a POCSO complaint in 2024 - naming the husband, his mother, his brother, his sister-in-law.

Quashing Petition filed, but the Allahabad High Court refused to quash.

Appeal filed - SC disagreed quashed the charges.
