@whoopazz6969@HPbasketball The teams know that! The people who actually work in this field know that! They use film analysis alongside data to draw better, more informed conclusions about roster/contract decisions. Stop listening to randos on twitter tell you that one players RAPM is higher then the other
@GeneralManagerO What about a guy like Flemings? Im a Clippers fan and I would absolutely love him at 5. Such a high IQ guy, watching his interview w/ Ben Pfiefer on YT rn lol
@GeneralManagerO He’s actually a funny comp to Caitlin Clark, which would worry me about his development but would be a fun player lol. I get the red flag/green flag thing, but complete lack of effort on defense is hard to ignore, def an “anything is better than nothing” situation for me.
@GeneralManagerO What do you think about Acuff then? I think I would agree his offensive game is better than DP’s rn, but he’s such a negative on defense I would be really worried about taking him
@GeneralManagerO Not sure Yaxel will be higher than him in mine bc of age lol, but fans will continue to devalue defense forever in this sport when EVERY SINGLE CHAMPION EVER has amazing to really good defense
@GeneralManagerO Yeah its def the right move to value these guys higher in the modern NBA. People need to stop pretending every high volume 3 guy will be a 3&D guy in the league and start taking the REAL swiss army knife wings who actually win you games on defense
@GeneralManagerO Totally agree, Ive been saying he’s like the final evolution of recent high school/AAU basketball, which has focused on winning traits over everything: numbers, positions, etc.
@GeneralManagerO I have weird feelings about a guy like Yaxel bc of the age, but if a contender/fringe contender (OKC/Atlanta) can add him and have him on a rookie contract till he’s 27, thats crazy value. But if a rebuilder or god forbid GSW took him, Id sideye the pick lol
@GeneralManagerO Stats def can translate, but for me w/ the age thing its about film/underlying numbers first for the young guys before counting/efficiency stats. Its why I can’t believe people are saying Boozer will be a regular in the NBA, he has age/film/advanced/counting all backing him up.
@GeneralManagerO Always love when I see a draft board way off consensus that you can actually defend. My main thing that I take from baseball is a huge bias towards young guys; research from baseball has consistently correlated age w/ development especially in those 19-21 years.
@GeneralManagerO Oh I know Cade was better in college, Ive been watching him since Monteverde kill my high school basketball team and then carry OSU lol. I will watch some DP film to start my draft board work bc he’s really fascinating to me (obviously lol).
