A couple of thoughts & then NO MORE GDPR TWEETS (today). Don’t be underhand, creepy or do weird things with people’s info. Be transparent. Keep it safe. Let people exercise their rights. If it goes wrong, fix it. Apply common-sense to the situation. Oh, & if you’re not sure, ask.
@ItsMattsLaw I spend more time now arguing against AI that’s been used to write correspondence and trying to correct errors in the “advice” that’s been given by those platforms and which people are relying on because they honestly believe it’s accurate and can’t spot when it’s off
Hearty thanks to the chap in the Land Rover driving past the Masonic Temple (headlamp out) for dowsing me head to toe in puddle water. You obvs saw me standing on the pavement but continued to tank it up to a red light.
Thanks for the wash 🫠

@EarlofJersey I think it was the bar work that gave me the broadest experience for dealing with people! (And it remains one of my fave jobs. Folding jumpers in Burtons and sorting out pants, less so.)
Instead of cards this year, I’ve made donations to two Jersey charities supporting causes close to my heart:

Wishing all a very merry Christmas ✨

😥 One more case... How many more for authorities to finally increase oversight, governance and enforcement measures against general-purpose AI chatbots?
According to the mother of the victim:
"Sophie held her darkest thoughts back from her actual therapist ... talking to a robot — always available, never judgy — had fewer consequences."
As I have been writing extensively in the past 2.5 years, general-purpose AI chatbots are NOT:
- trained therapists
- certified therapists
- capable of providing adequate mental health support
- safe tools to obtain mental health support
- substitutes for appropriate mental health support
As such, they should be equipped with built-in guardrails to avoid therapy-like scenarios that would expose vulnerable people to potential harm.
As I've written before, for every tragedy like this one there are likely many thousands of cases where people are putting themselves at risk.
