@ITVChannelTV reporting on past political tactics and why St Martin did not have a Constable for 27 years. The population has increased substantially since then with only one candidate for the seat. #toomanyStatesMembers
With just 6 days to go until islanders in Jersey head to polling stations, @SophieDulsonITV takes a look at how tactics today compare to those of years gone by...

@SophieBamReid@GovJersey Then give feedback on the complaints process provided by @GovJersey through its complaints process? That’s why I recommended proceeding with Public Services Ombudsman service in my report. Equivalent cost to improving the service of the Complaints Panel.
What if the public is misinforming government rather than the other way round because of a failure to complain through the right channels? Here are the 2025/2026 @GovJersey statistics. Which department would you complain about? And why not complain so they can collect the data?
This morning we found a network of 215 newly registered websites with fake SMS alerts being sent out to Islanders via a Chinese messaging service. These are not legit: even if you are expecting a parcel (or a parking ticket), don't click.
@DarkJersey I was a member of a Machinery of Government PPcC sub-panel until Chairman Coles and Vice Chair Jeune became too enthused for my liking by the idea of a lobbyist register. The pace of work (focussed on a past PPC report) was glacial.
A 21% reduction in candidates makes political accountability impossible in Jersey. You don’t need to use all your votes https://t.co/xhSWInYrBh Former States Members have instigated a petition for the review of the the Ministerial system. Here’s the link https://t.co/KOelIEbXX5
We have a system where a Chief Officer and Minister can override normal policy making procedure, fail to consult with key stakeholders, treat successful businesses as pariahs, have supermarket shoppers subsidise smaller businesses and ignore a Brittany performance guarantee. 🤷🏻♀️

A shame for families and tourism. And after Deputy Montford Tadier persuaded States Members to support increased culture heritage and arts funding. And after the Minister authorised £40K of that money to be directed towards small airline Finistair against officers’ advice.
‘Playing games’.Elections are a time for political accountability. Unfortunately, an excessive number of seats in @StatesAssembly makes this unachievable. This is the real election issue. Rebuilding confidence in Jersey’s connectivity is up there too. https://t.co/65loAib4AP
@ANDYDB7@JEPnews I did bring a proposition to simplify processes which the Council of Ministers urged @statesassembly not to support! https://t.co/cFNI2PnK3f
@resolutehrje@markboleat If @markboleat has not already recognised that the number of seats in @StatesAssembly is working against political accountability, his becoming elected - with the job of persuading 48 States Members to think out of the box - is likely to be persuasive!
@BBCGuernsey If Guernsey introduces this rule I hope the rule itself will make it clear about how it will be applied to ensure fairness and consistency.
Growers of medicinal cannabis were encouraged to set up in Jersey absent of what should be recognised as good policy making process. What does that mean in terms of potential financial liability if @GovJersey does not deliver? And who will be held politically accountable?
@DarkJersey@GovJersey I accept that the electorate needs to be adequately informed. States Members have also contributed to a system where it is not easy to replace existing States Members entirely… as can be seen from the number of candidates for the excessive number of seats in @StatesAssembly
