His name was Akashdeep Singh.
20 years old. From Kothe Chahal village in Faridkot Punjab. He had one dream. To wear the uniform and serve India.
He joined the Indian Army under the Agnipath scheme. Posted to Jammu and Kashmir.
On April 20 2025 he returned to his post after leave. A few hours later he called his mother Karamjit Kaur.
It was their last conversation.
On May 15 2025 he was shot while on duty in Jammu and Kashmir.
His body was brought home to Faridkot.
His mother fainted at the door.
When she came to she found out her son had not been given martyr status.
He had died in uniform. With a bullet. On active duty. In a conflict zone.
But under the Agnipath scheme Agniveers do not automatically receive the same recognition as regular soldiers.
Karamjit Kaur made one decision.
She would not immerse her son’s ashes until the government declared him a martyr.
Three weeks after his cremation his ashes sat in their home in Faridkot. Every morning and every evening Karamjit Kaur and her husband Balwinder sat beside those ashes and prayed.
She said this.
He gave his life for the country but the government is not giving him the respect he deserves. Until they declare him a martyr I will not immerse his ashes.
Youth from nearby villages announced they would boycott upcoming Agniveer recruitment tests.
He was 20 years old.
He gave India his life.
India gave him a four year contract and no guaranteed martyr status.
His mother is still waiting.
Remember his name.
Agniveer Akashdeep Singh.

🇲🇽🚨 Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum just made it clear: Mexico has every right to send fuel to Cuba, whether for humanitarian or commercial reasons.
No apology. No hesitation. No asking permission.
Washington has spent six decades telling the world who can trade with Cuba and who cannot. Mexico is saying that era is over. Sovereign nations make their own trade policy. They do not wait for a blockade to be lifted. They act.
First Mexico restarts oil shipments. Now the President is putting the empire on notice. Cuba is not alone. Latin America is waking up. And the days of Washington dictating who gets fuel and who gets starved are coming to an end.
This has got to be one of the most ethereally beautiful photos ever…
Taken by Dalbir Singh ( @SikhPark ) at 6 a.m in what he calls the ‘soft winter morning mist.’
The Golden Temple was, in any case, one of my favoured and frequently visited destinations…and I was never able to describe or express how it made me feel…
Until I saw this image.
Now I won’t need words.

Unilateral bid to alter Chandigarh’s status will undermine long-standing understandings.
Chandigarh stands on 59 Punjabi villages; over 1,000 sq. km of its controlled periphery lies in Punjab; and its UT status under the 1966 Reorganisation Act was meant to be temporary.
The 1970 Indira Gandhi decision committed that “the capital project area of Chandigarh… as a whole go to Punjab,” and the 1985 Rajiv–Longowal Accord promised transfer by 26 Jan 1986.
Any steps that overlooks Punjab’s rightful stake may create avoidable dissatisfaction and affect the spirit of federal cooperation — especially when attention and constructive engagement are being sought on issues concerning farmers and Panjab University.

Along the Ravi, with the Dhussi embankment, even access to the villages is not being ensured. The government doesn’t have full reduce mechanism hence system is failed, and it is the people themselves who are supporting one another
Floods didn’t break Punjab, it's the system. BBMB delayed dam releases, no timely action, @AAPPunjab failed on ground. It’s only Punjabis saving Punjabis. We don’t need sympathy, we need accountability. And If the opposition won’t raise the question who will? @BhagwantMann 's Govt is too busy with self-promotion while Punjab drowns #PunjabFloods
Sam Altman's latest confession is going viral:
"AI will be more profound than fire or electricity in human history."
But that's not the scariest part of his new Theo Von interview.
From dark predictions for his infant son to calling out Zuckerberg...
Here's what he revealed:
How come that Shubham Dubey who has been arrested for threatening to blow up Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) has not been termed as terrorist by media? To which terrorist group he belongs?
"मत आना मनाली में घूमने, कोई प्रोटेक्शन नहीं है, ये पाकिस्तान से भी बुरा है"
हिमाचल के मनाली गई हरियाणा की फैमिली को मनाली में पीटा गया। रास्ते से स्कूटी हटाने का विवाद था। पुलिस ने अज्ञात पर FIR दर्ज कर ली है।
A retired soldier, Ranveer Singh, from Bhai Bakhtaur village in Bathinda, was brutally attacked by drug peddlers for leading a fight against drugs in his area. In protest, villagers put up "Village for Sale" posters.
Instead of taking strict action against the drug mafia, the police are threatening locals for exposing the ground reality.
This is the grim truth behind @BhagwantMann govt’s so-called #YudhNasheVirudh—a campaign more about headlines than real action.
