Russia has roughly three times as many military casualties as Ukraine, but Ukraine suffers over a dozen times more civilian casualties.
That single fact says everything about the nature of this war
Yesterday, Sept 9, a Russian strike on the Manufactura shopping mall in Sumy killed students Taisiia Moskvitina and Maksym Maksymenko, both only 21 🕯💔
Taisiia studied medicine, Maksym was a food technology graduate.
They had their whole lives ahead of them, but Russia stole their future for no other reason then them being Ukrainians.
… if someone tells you they love russia, show them this. And tell them that means loving this and what they are doing in Ukraine. Fucking russians! This is Pavlohrad, a city in the Dnipropetrovsk region, today, following a russian daytime shelling of the city when the streets were full of civilians.
…four people were killed and more than 60 injured. The russian air strike on the city caused a fire in a store, commercial premises, and vehicles. Two State Emergency Service (SES) rescuers were also injured and hospitalized while extinguishing the fire.
Today in our city of Pavlohrad, the Russians killed people with drones who were simply near shopping malls. As of now, four people have been reported killed… My condolences to their families and loved ones. More than 60 people were wounded in this strike alone. Everyone is receiving the necessary assistance. Dozens of people were also wounded in Kramatorsk by Russian bombs that struck residential buildings. Other cities and communities in the Dnipro and Donetsk regions, as well as the Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kharkiv regions, also came under attack. In the evening, Dnipro and Kyiv were also targeted.
We are working as intensively as possible with our partners so that we can protect Ukrainians from this Russian terror. Today, there will be decisions on additional support packages for Ukraine, including defense assistance and support specifically for protecting our skies. We are also preparing additional support packages. The world sees what Russia is doing. And Ukraine will have support. One hundred percent of our attention is focused on this now – concrete strengthening of our defense, concrete funding for defense, and concrete opportunities for weapons manufacturers to protect lives. Thank you to everyone who is helping!

Look, world. This is Pavlohrad today, after a russian аttack.
These are ordinary streets. Ordinary people simply living their lives.
Two people were 💔

Trump: So Please raise your right hand: I pledge to the greatest president in the history of the United States
Crowd: I pledge to the greatest president in the history of the United States…
Trump: I'm going to try and cheat like hell like they do.
🧵
16 years is an enormous price to pay for dissent.
Piotr Asipenka, 26, a former forensic expert & customs officer, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison on 3 political charges, including “high treason” & insulting Lukashenka.
He is one of ~900 political prisoners in Belarus💔
Four years ago today, Ukraine liberated Izium.
What was uncovered shocked the world: 447 graves, including 414 civilians and 5 children. Most died violently.
This is what russian occupation leaves behind.
Repression in Belarus has not stopped. The latest @viasna96 report shows what our people continue to endure.
At the end of August, 889 recognised political prisoners remained behind bars, including 124 women. At least 185 were particularly vulnerable because of their health, age, or circumstances of imprisonment.
Since 2020:
👉 More than 100,000 acts of repression have been recorded.
👉 At least 10,058 people have faced politically motivated criminal prosecution.
👉 At least 8,696 have been convicted, including more than 2,000 women.
👉 3,982 people have been convicted for taking part in protests.
👉 Nine political prisoners have died in captivity.
👉 2,053 non-profit organisations have ceased to exist, including 1,249 forcibly liquidated.
The report also documents the persecution of 175 people linked to the European Humanities University in Vilnius, including students’ parents.
Every release matters. But our work cannot end while people are still being arrested for exercising their rights. We must secure freedom for every political prisoner and an end to the repression that keeps destroying lives.
PETRAEUS: Britain's response to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine provides particularly powerful example. From late 2021 onward, UK demonstrated strategic clarity.
Your leaders publicly recognized the nature of Russian threat earlier than most, provided military assistance before and after the invasion, expanded intelligence support, imposed sanctions, trained Ukrainian forces, and consistently demonstrated leadership, even as others, including my country [the US] at times, hesitated.
Your Prime Minister was also the first major Western leader to visit Kyiv after the invasion, and despite changes of government and significant challenges at home, Britain has maintained remarkable continuity in recognizing both the threat posed by Russia and the imperative of sustained support for Ukraine.
Your new Prime Minister rightly made his first trip overseas to Kyiv to be there to help celebrate Ukraine's 35th anniversary of independence.
That deserves recognition, not merely because Britain stood with a country attacked by a common adversary, but because it demonstrated the quality that matters most in periods of strategic change: the ability to recognize reality clearly and act decisively before others do so.
