@maplebonk@souljagoyteller@arash_tehran I don't think any Egyptians or Syrians moved into Palestine with the intention of creating an Egypt or Syria in there, they moved in a personal capacity like any other economic migrant in history
Many Palestinians migrated out as well, we never hear this side
@istirakci_aga@ajaltamimi Must be news to the AQ operatives languishing in HTS jails or finding out through a US drone what Sharaa's version of walaa wal baraa is
@RojavaNetwork@QalaatAlMudiq Racist loser surprised they needed Turkey to stop Russia, Turkey also saved Kobani by allowing Peshmerga to enter during the ISIS siege btw you should say thank you Erdogan
Iran itself peppered its escalation quite gradually, giving both the US and regional allies more to save by backing down and more to lose by doubling down. Iran came prepared with its homework from last war, Trump did not.
A lot of talk about Iran's strategy backfiring. But the truth is by putting them in a place where they had nothing to lose, the US was the one that finally pushed Iran to exercise 100% of its coercive power. Escalating to a 100 on day one is a monumentally stupid approach.
And there it is. At least Saudi and Kuwait have both caved and denied US access for round two.
Anybody who understands the Gulf should have seen this coming.

EXCLUSIVE: Trump's abrupt U-turn on a plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz came after Saudi Arabia suspended U.S. access to its bases and airspace. https://t.co/ugxw2ilzpD
I just don't see this. Everybody knows you can't erase the stockpile fast enough. The priority for Gulf states is a return to normalcy as quickly as possible.
Whatever their feelings towards Iran, they aren't willing to bet the social contract on it.

Does not track at all with what many people are hearing in the Gulf right now
It's correct that they would like European allies to come help with defense (not just interceptions, but left-of-launch stuff)
But the idea that they're pushing for an off-ramp seems off the mark
This is huge and confirms that the notion that the Saudis were quietly backing the US war on Iran was a complete myth.
It never made sense to start with: given the eminently predictable devastating consequences the war has had on Saudi Arabia, why on earth would they have signed up for it?
It also confirms that the Saudis - and, I suspect, many other actors in the region - no longer see US military presence on their soil as a a security guarantee, but instead as a vector of insecurity.
Which is another way in which Iran is winning strategically. Many people were wondering what possible strategic calculus Iran could have in "mindlessly bombing all their neighbors," as many were putting it. Well, the whole point was precisely so those neighbors would do exactly what the Saudis just did. Q.E.D.
@DerekHenryFlood If I had to guess probably de jure yes, it's easier that way if your main sponsor is an AQ affiliate
But on the ground it will probably depend on what alliances form or break

🇱🇧 12-Year-Old Girl Messages Israeli Army Spokesman Asking to Bomb Her School
A 12-year-old student at Choueifat National College sent a message to Israeli Army spokesman Avichay Adraee claiming there were weapons inside her school and asking him to strike it – because she didn’t want to attend classes.
Following the message, Israeli drones flew over the area, causing panic among residents.
The school administration has demanded a security investigation with the girl and her family, and issued a statement warning that anyone committing illegal acts or harming the school’s reputation will face legal action.

@midnight_b65055 Even worse, they invited Russia which started slaughtering villagers because they suck at counterinsurgency and only know brute force. We're seeing the results of their methods today.
@midnight_b65055 It's not disgusting to point out they were warned this would happen when they kicked out NATO, and this is exactly what's happening. Continuing to double down and not accepting you've made a mistake is not a virtue.
