Update: We are glad to announce that the United States is already assessing a potential post-Tinubu scenario ahead of Nigeria’s upcoming presidential election. The Europeans have officially launched their operation to ensure that their man, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu (@officialABAT), remains in power. The London-based @TheEconomist has magically declared that “Nigerians dislike their president, but may re-elect him anyway.” And people wonder what Tinubu was doing in London and Paris.

While the United States, under President @realDonaldTrump, stood on principle and made it clear that an alleged heroin trafficker had no place beside our President or in the White House, French President @EmmanuelMacron threw open the doors of the Élysée Palace (@Elysee) to President Tinubu. If the word “President” matters so much to them, then they must ensure that the process that creates the office of the Presidency is itself presidential.

The APC Chairman in Edo State has now invoked “AK-47 fire” against anyone who stands in the way of delivering 2.5 million votes for Tinubu in 2027.

As PO has often said, if you want to answer the title of “Excellency,” the process that brought you to power must itself be excellent.

As for me, Atiku can call him whatever name he likes.

What the Edo State APC chairman is indirectly saying is deeply troubling: that violence may become part of the 2027 electoral strategy in Edo State.

For years, inflammatory rhetoric by political leaders has helped normalise the idea of elections as battles to be fought and won at all costs. The 2023 rhetoric that “power is not served à la carte; you fight for it, grab it, snatch it and run with it” and the earlier “dogs and baboons” remark are disturbing examples of this political culture.

Tenebe’s declaration reflects a deeper national malaise where thuggery and violence risk becoming instruments of political competition. Elections are constitutional processes for choosing leaders and not theatres of war.

Nigeria deserves elections where citizens choose leaders without fear, and where political power is won through ballots, not bullets. As Goodluck Jonathan demonstrated, no political office is worth the loss of a single human life.
