The Freddy Saga is a good reminder both of why normal, well-adjusted people often end up ceding the public square to a handful of deranged, overly online individuals and of why it is so important for normal folks not to do so.

@matt_vanswol Thanks Matt. Right now we are battling weather, diminished comms, kinetic flooding, and as usual misinformation. The best thing anybody can do for us right now is share our official posts across social. Volunteer needs are specialized, if that changes we'll announce! 🙏🫡💪

I have been screaming into the void about the proliferation of CSAM and other child exploitation content on X for well over a year now. Child predators use coded language, emojis and hashtags to signal each other to the content.

It is a real and serious problem, and X doesn't offer a direct way to report the hashtags, which means that well-meaning individuals have no reasonable way to get X's attention on the matter.

That said, in the unfortunate case you find such a hashtag, PLEASE DO NOT TWEET IT OUT!!!!

Leading people to CSAM is the wrong way to handle this problem. Every time CSAM is viewed, a child is harmed. In addition, seeking out and viewing CSAM can be considered illegal, even on X, and well-meaning people can be traumatized by the material.

We CAN and SHOULD be advocating for X to dedicate more resources to staying on top of the evolving hashtags used by criminals to spread CSAM. But we must so responsibly and without leading people to the content.

Thank you!!

All due respect, if you are finding links on this platform it need to be reported to the proper channels, not reposted @NCMEC https://t.co/7AnuueJxVv

This is the centralized reporting system for suspected online exploitation of children, including CSAM. You can also call NCMEC’s 24-hour hotline at 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678) if you prefer to report by phone.

This yet to be released song by Wesko has completely captured the pain and devastation of Helene. Words escape me. If there was ever a song that needed to go viral it’s this one.
