The last day of school is always a tough one. Seeing my first class I ever taught move onto high school and my current class moving onto 8th grade is so bittersweet. I’m so proud of them all and happy I got to play just a small part in their lives! ❤️❤️
Good morning and Happy Friday to everyone except for the sick asshole who went on Tik Tok to promote today as School Shooter Challenge Day, seriously fuck you, I kept my kids home today.
I can’t believe I’m already weeks in to another year teaching 7th grade ELA! Time is flying but I can tell it is going to be a great year with these kids ☺️
Today we had a Socratic Seminar discussing and debating topics in the novel we just finished, A Long Walk to Water. My students never fail to amaze me with their kind hearts, empathy, and ability to consider new perspectives. They’re pretty smart, too! 🥳
Today, I am directing every state to prioritize educators for vaccination. We want every educator, school staff member, and child-care worker to receive at least one shot by the end of this month.
It’s time to treat in-person learning like the essential service that it is.
We watched “7 minutes of terror” on the difficulty landing a rover on Mars just a few weeks ago... and then yesterday happened. My 7th graders were so excited! We celebrated with a live stream. Space unit going strong!🚀 #mars2021
We also had a much needed debate on whether tacos are better than pizza. I loved hearing students present their claims, reasonings, and rebuttals.
🍕 vs. 🌮
We started our argument unit today! Our unit topic is outer space, and we are thrilled! We watched a video from NASA on the difficulties of landing the Mars rover. Students then argued with me (head of NASA) as if they were engineers building a rover that I NEEDED to invest in😎

Loved getting to go visit my student of the month! I nominated him for his incredible test scores this quarter and his extremely hard work in ELA. He is so deserving of this! ☺️
We finish The Outsiders today! What a journey reading this novel has been. My students are amazing and will do amazing things! Their hearts are golden 💛💛💛
I am reading The Outsiders for the first time with my students this unit and we are having so much fun! I love seeing the empathy students have toward the characters. Examining and understanding the importance of POV has taught us a LOT!
I am so impressed with how my seventh graders persevered during our informational essay unit and produced INCREDIBLE essays on early female aviators. #theyrelearning#TrustTheProcess
Happy World Teachers Day to all who have chosen the most noble of professions. May your words inspire, the worth of your work be upheld, and the fruits of your labor be multiplied upon you and those whose lives you touch #InternationalTeachersDay#WorldTeachersDay#Salute
