A regular sort of oddity. Indie-author of dark speculative fiction going traditional. Morbid streak and teeth, but I don't bite. #WritingYAFantasy She/Her
Even if you don't like cats (I'm a dog person that loves cats), you have to admit, they are excellent at setting boundaries. I think it's something we should all strive for. #catlove#amwritingfantasy
@authorkflemming I use it when needed everywhere??? (is that not right?) I use it for internal dialogue and use a descriptor tag (ie 'thought'). In regular dialogue I use italics for emphasis but make sure I don't have a -lot- of it or that it's not following internal dialogue.
@rwritesfantasy@Kathy_Fraggle That sounds like a fantastic breakfast! I struggle to eat breakfast, so I ought to try that! On mornings I do eat breakfast I'm a buttered bagel and vegan eggs girl.
@BrendanZornig @goscribbler Don't read reviews. If I need a review for promotional materials I look at 5/4 star ones. If I'm getting nothing but trolls, then I'm either doing good or really bad & need to examine what I'm writing either way. Reviews are for readers, not writers, so I just leave 'em be. :)
@DailywriterQ In HoM:TPM, magic is mostly hidden, but the magical community is large/world wide. Some people know about magic, some don't. Mostly, magic users have practical ways to use magic so non-magic users can't detect it. Everyone has a good time. #amwritingfantasy
@author_lise I have real heckin' weird dreams so I tend to get ideas from that. Sometimes I read books in my dreams and wake up totally remembering the plot and write that down. Or I look at an idea and go "ok...hear me out but..." and the idea explodes from there xD #fantasywriter
Instead of writing I'm looking at houses I currently cannot afford. Granted, it's a nice house study for my writing? Do I get to use the #amwriting tag or....??? #amalmostwriting#amwritingfantasy
Don't say: I'm not a writer because I'm not published.
Instead say: I'm a writer because I'm putting words to paper. I'm a writer because I'm creating stories with interesting characters.

@LindsayHiller I type on my iPad then type it all up again on my computer and do edits that way. It's a lot but it works for me! After that I print it out. I always gotta scribble on my manuscript. #WritingCommunity#writersoftwitter
A small shift in the words we use can go a long way toward #inclusion. @PerkinsVision has some quick tips on editing #ableism out of everyday language. ⬇️
@XanIndigo I love reading/watching a villain and going "well they aren't WRONG, but maybe don't do the thing??" That sliver of relatability makes me question how I perceive others/myself. A good villain has strong motives, isn't entirely wrong, and makes me question everything.
@AuthorHelmkamp I challenge myself to make my first draft as crappy as possible! It sounds counterintuitive, but works super well. W/ pressure to be "bad" I come up with so many fun/workable ideas and have a ton to work with. There's a lot of pretty in the poo.
I just saw a tweet that said "Happy Monday!" and I was so confused because I would've sworn up and down that it was Friday. Even though I KNOW I get new hearing aids tomorrow and that tomorrow is Tuesday. Still 100% thought today was Friday.
