Jeon Soyeon stands as an absolute powerhouse and visionary force in K-pop, a once-in-a-generation talent with unstoppable stage presence, and genius-level production that have redefined what it means to be a self-made idol. She's the brilliant leader, main rapper, and primary creative driving force of the history-making Girl Group (G)I-DLE, one of the best-selling K-Pop Girl Groups of All Time, and has written, composed, and produced the majority of the group’s iconic hits, from “Tomboy” to “Nxde” to “Queencard”! Soyeon is not only an amazing lyricist and Producer, but also an incredibly talented Singer and an extremely skilled dancer! The Media named her a "triple threat", and 'Alpha girl' due to her success as a rapper, singer, and songwriter and her unique skills in record production and dancing. She is regarded as a role model and has been cited as an inspiration by many young artists. Her solo work further cements her status as one of the most gifted female rappers, a true trailblazer who not only elevated her group to global superstardom but continuously pushes the boundaries of artistry and female empowerment!

Soyeon is a professional ballet dancer, and has won several competitions. She is definitely lead dancer material, with her dance as powerful as her rap! She decided to pursue a career in music after seeing Big Bang in concert, and began her career in the TV shows Produce 101 and Unpretty Rapstar before debuting as a Solo artist on November 5, 2017. On May 2, 2018, she debuted as the leader and rapper of I-dle! She is also part of the SM Station X girl group project Station Young and has been acclaimed for her portrayal of the League of Legends character Akali in the virtual musical groups K/DA and True Damage!

Soyeon wrote the lyrics, music and arrangement for GI-dle's debut song "Latata" and the follow up "Hann", which were both huge hits, and co-wrote 5 songs from the group's debut EP 'I Am'! In 2020, I-dle released their 3rd EP, 'I Trust'. All of the songs on the album, including the lead single "Oh My God", were written and composed by Soyeon. She also composed I-dle's first summer song, "Dumdi Dumdi". In 2021, I-dle released their EP 'I Burn', including the lead single "Hwaa". Soyeon wrote 4 of the 6 tracks! In June 2021, she was listed on the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) top 100 as the first fourth-generation girl group member and the youngest female K-pop idol among independent artists. On January 31, 2024, she was promoted to a full member of KOMCA, recognizing her extensive songwriting contributions!

In July 2021, Soyeon released her first EP, 'Windy' with its lead single "Beam Beam" and won her first music program trophy on SBS MTV's The Show on July 13. In 2023, Soyeon was part of a special collaboration single "Nobody" with Ive's Liz and Aespa's Winter! On June 27, 2025, Soyeon released the cover single “My Name is Malguem”. Soyeon released the OST “Game” with Yuqi on October 2025, and featured on R.Tee’s “DAMDADI,” and the March 2026 collab “DON’T DIE” with Odetari which debuted at #4 on Genius Korea’s K-Global chart! With i-dle she contributed to their Japanese EP in October 2025, the January 2026 single “Mono feat. skaiwater” that hit #1 on China’s TME Korean chart and won music-show trophies, the pre-release “Crow” that topped QQ Music, and the July 2026 EP 'We Made' led by “Gimme Dat Love”, which peaked at #2 on the Circle Album Chart with over 550,000 copies sold!

Soyeon has won several notable personal awards, recognizing her as a top female rapper, songwriter, and producer including the popularity award at the 2017 Hallyu Hip-hop Culture Awards, Best Original song for "Giants" at the 2020 Game Audio Network Guild Awards, Best Female Multi-Entertainer / Female Multitainer of the Year (Daesang) at the 2022 Brand of the Year Awards, Best Songwriter at the 2022 Melon Music Awards, Best Producer at the 2023 Asian Pop Music Awards and Best Songwriter at the
2024 Melon Music Awards! She has also won numerous awards as leader of i-dle, including 6 Circle Chart Music Awards, 8 Golden Disc Awards, 7 Melon Music Awards, 4 Asia Artist Awards, 4 The Fact Music Awards, 5 MAMA Awards, 5+ Seoul Music Awards including a Daesang, 3 Genie Music Awards, 5+ Hanteo Music Awards and additional wins such as Best Song Daesang and Global Generation Icon, 2 Soribada Best K-Music Awards, 1 Japan Gold Disc Award, and 1 V Live Award! The group has won nearly 70 major awards including several daesangs!

Soyeon is the Coach Global Brand Ambassador since September 2025 for the Fall “Revive Your Courage” campaign which continued through Holiday 2025 and into 2026 shows/campaigns!

Soyeon is also an active philanthropist and in 2020, she donated 30,000 hand sanitizers during the COVID-19 pandemic in South Korea via the Holt Children's Welfare Association. In 2021, Soyeon opened a personal Instagram account with several photos of selfies and an arm tattoo as a "consent for organ donation" on V Live. In 2022, she donated 20,000 briquettes to the Sharing Briquettes of Love campaign to help unprivileged and low-income families, throughout the cold winter. In 2023, Soyeon donated 20 million won to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association in aid of those affected by the 2023 Turkey–Syria earthquake. In July, 2024, the Superstar donated another ₩100 million to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association, as a member of Hope Bridge Honors Club, after heavy rain damage across South Korea. In March, 2025, Soyeon donated another ₩100 million to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association, to support residents affected by the forest fires in Ulsan, Gyeongbuk & Gyeongnam. As part of i-dle, she donated ₩200 million in late November 2025 via the Fosun Foundation to Hong Kong fire victims while attending MAMA!

Soyeon has expressed her desire for more women to take part in record production, and says there are no gender boundaries when it comes to music, performances and gaming. She has been described as a "genius songwriter-idol" and Kukinews named her the first successful female Korean idol singer who also produces music for both her group and other artists!

From a Produce 101 and Unpretty Rapstar contestant who debuted as a soloist then built (G)I-DLE into a self-producing powerhouse, Soyeon has evolved into a multi-million-selling producer, Global Coach ambassador, consistent high-value philanthropist, and artist now preparing her first full solo album in 2026 after years of chart-topping hits and daesangs.
